Re: small VR sensor

For what ever it's worth, the MS-E standard practice for hooking up a Hall sensor is to the VR Input rather than the opto-isolated input, and it apparently works just fine. Having played with the Allegro chip mentioned above, a word of warning: make sure you get a sensor that is intended for what pu...

Re: Mercedes 190E 2.3-16

If you dig around in the Mercedes forums you can find the information for the Mercedes sensors, and with a bit of fiddling with the bias resistors on the Megasquirt may be able to at least use the stock temperature sensor. I know at least one gentleman in Belarus is making adapters to use a Ford cra...

Re: Mercedes 190E 2.3-16

Looking up the specs of the 190E with a 2.3L 16valve engine, it looks like it is one of the Bosch CIS injection engines. That is good in that it already has ports for the injectors to go in, but you will have to figure out how to mount fuel rails and injectors where MB had only mounted a set of nozz...

Re: Lift fuel Pump

There are also Mercedes cars through the 70's and 80's that had externally mounted Bosch high pressure pumps. As far as I know all of the gas powered cars should have them. That being said, they push near 100 psi, as the K-jetronic fuel system was targetting ~75 psi working pressure.

Re: Alternatives to the DIY relay board?

The third relay on the board would be removed for that schematic, because it is for the Idle Air Control Valve. When using a PWM valve, you bypass the relay, since a relay can't switch on and off nearly fast enough for a PWM valve's operation.

Re: Elec Fuel Pump flow ratings

By no means do I consider myself the authority, but here's what I understand on this. Free flow rate on the pump is how many gallons per hour, or liters per hour the pump will move when unrestricted. For example, you could test this by pumping from one tank to another, or into a bucket. At peak pres...

Re: CIS to EFI Injector Question

Realistically, I wouldn't expect any problems other than being a little difficult to get it leaned out at idle possibly. I did find that you can get EV6 injectors in 21 lb or so from ford 4.6 and 5 lite applications. I got mine from a Crown Victoria. Also, try testing the size that you are consideri...

Re: I don't know my injector flow rate, now what?

Another option is to find a local injection cleaning shop and pick their brains while paying a fairly cheep rate for a flow check and inspection. I just got done doing that with a set of injectors I got off of ebay, supposedly salvaged out of a Crown Vic. Bugging a professional ended up getting me a...

can i ask whats wrong with the cis injection? i personally think it looks cool, and was going to put it on my old school honda civic, until idecided that i might as well use the injectors that are already on my engine...(a20) For those of us who's cars are afflicted by CIS, it's usually a vacuum is...

Re: struggling to find external fuel pump

The down side to using a pressurized container is that if you develop a leak, you can't just pull the plug. It will also loose pressure as you consume fuel, rather than maintaining the same pressure as it would with a regulator and pump.

Re: Wiring Cleanup and Noise Reduction

Just a thought, but when I work on bare grounds, I make sure to use a anti-oxidant paste or at least some dielectric paste to prevent rusting or corrosion of the connection.

I don't like to be reworking my ground straps when I could be working on other things, only months down the road!

That's strange, both that they can't help, and that the lady didn't give you any unit of measure. Then again, with that wide a spread in the range she gave, it doesn't really sound like a unit would make it much more useful! Sorry I can't help more, I was scratching my head on the little injectors t...

Re: flow rate for bosch 0-280-156-205? searched

I found out that ford injector part numbers are actually a bit longer than the print on the injector, because the part in the middle only means that it's an injector. I ended up having to take one of the injectors that I couldn't identify down to a ford dealership and went a couple rounds with the g...

For those of us who live on the other side of the country and can't wander over to make the meet, is there any chance anyone would record and upload/podcast the panels? Re: Using existing temp gauge with megasquirt sensor

Is there any chance you could use the stock temp sender and map it's response curve into MS? As the suggestion a couple of posts up mentioned, if the bias resistance of the gauge is high enough, the MS and the gauge can share the sensor output, as they won't affect it's value enough to change what t...

Re: Is this a PWM IAC control? Bosch question

I would suggest bench-testing any valve to check operation before installing, as it can save a lot of time and frustration. Well, the valve is working on the stock intake system currently, so at least I know that it is working. I'll have to see what I can do with the MS on the stim before installat...

Re: Is this a PWM IAC control? Bosch question

Unfortunately, the project has been on hold for the most part. The daily driver car became unreliable, so the EFI conversion subject has become the daily driver. Parts collection is complete other than some fuel hose and preparation for the conversion is still in progress, but running slowly at the ...

ebay links not permitted on these forums

I did a quick search for filter baskets on ebay, and this guy popped up, with ~5000 of them.

Re: Is this a PWM IAC control? Bosch question

Well, I'm fairly sure this is a normally open valve, as when I unplug it, it revs up to around 1800rpm. As far as the 5v control goes, I've just recently found testing instructions calling for up to 12v in momentary use to test it, so I suspect anything the MS can dish out should be workable, at lea...
