I recently discovered Corvette in particular (1953-2007) and Chevrolet more generally
used non-adhesive 1 inch wide plastic tape (black) to wrap wiring harnesses.
A web search for "wire harness tape non adhesive" or "wiring harness tape non adhesive"
will get you inexpensive sources on the web ...

A traditional approach in English cars is to wrap in non-adhesive electrical tape.
A dot of superglue (bonding tape to tape) at each end holds it. Then (once cut) it comes off easily in case
changes are needed. Holden.co.uk electrical > wiring > tape. Called Bondalec tape.
