Re: car hesitates at around 3700 rpm?

installed msd6a, blaster2 coil, pertronix ignitor (already existing). solved the problem. instead of taking the tach signal off the negative of the coil, the tach output of the msd6a is hooked up to the megasquirt tach input. appeared to have cleaned up the signal.

Re: pulsewidth zero during log, normal?

installed new msd 6a ignition and new msd blaster 2 ignition coil (epoxy) along with pertronix ignitor (existing). connected megasquirt tach signal to msd 6a tach output. also, had to install new autometer 3700 tach because previous tach didn't work with the msd 6a. megasquirt isn't controlling the ...

Re: pulsewidth zero during log, normal?

good catch matt. jp1 was jumpered across 2 and 3.

would i have a better chance getting a reliable tach signal (without the 0 or jumps around 3k) from going the direct coil route or the msd output route?

Re: pulsewidth zero during log, normal?

ok, i switched my 20+ year old toyota electronic ignitor and pickup to a brand new electronic pertonix ignitor i and pertronix coil. unfortunately, i'm still getting a pw, rpm to 0 ever so often just as before. usually around the 3k range.

what should i do next to get a clean tach signal? should i ...

Re: Wet Inside of Intake Manifold?

the injectors are underneath. see below. so is there a way to stop this "intake pulse reversion" or "puddling modeled by X-tau." oh boy, that's way over my head at this point. but it seems to be wet more around the throttle body butterfly(?) than inside of the manifold itself (though it' still wet ...

Wet Inside of Intake Manifold?

ok, this is probably a dumb question. when i took off my throttle body, it seemed a bit wet around the opening. inside, the throttle body was coated with fuel. basically my question is, is this normal? and if not, what could be causing this? a/f on my wideband looks ok. below are pics. the last pics ...

Re: pulsewidth zero during log, normal?

matt-

i got a bunch of 2 watt resistors ranging from 1k, 2k, 3k, 5k, 7.4k, and 10k. being that this is an intermittent problem, can't make it appear on demand in all conditions. the 5k made the car a little hard to start. 10k car won't even start/stay running. of the all the resistors, maybe the 1k ...

Re: pulsewidth zero during log, normal?

no resistors inline. white wire inside of the coax/shielded wire goes directly from the negative of the coil to the relay board.

Re: pulsewidth zero during log, normal?

matt-

can you explain what you meant by not filtering out too much in the tach signal source.

is this something in megasquirt or mgl? or something you do physically.

i'm picking up my tach signal via the negative of the coil using the inner/white wire of the coax shielded wire. then, at the ecu ...

Re: Excess Air (?) Fuel Pressure

i relieved the pressure by putting a t fitting and running a few loops around, then vented to atmosphere. this is just was by the gas tank. i don't smell any fumes even though it is vented to atmosphere. if it does become a problem, can try see if i can fit up charcoal canister. solved the excess ...

Re: car hesitates at around 3700 rpm?

i checked my wiring to the relay board, looks to be ok. not sure what other wiring i should look at. i pretty much ran all the wiring, soldered connections since this is carb to efi conversion and most of the stock wiring was pretty bare.

in any case, for these erratic rpm jumps, since i have ...

pulsewidth zero during log, normal?

msii, smd 3.57
firmware 2.687
no mods, bought preassembled.
controlling fuel only

my car seems to be running ok at this point. however, when i'm doing my logs, i notice that at points in my log, my pulsewidth goes to zero, duty cycle is 0, and afr is 21.9, crank goes "y". mind you it seems only for ...

bleoh-

was there a section in my diagram/fuel system that you'd recommend changing? all hoses (blue) from the fuel pump to the regulator are goodyear fi hypathon hoses.

Re: Excess Air (?) Fuel Pressure

thanks for the replies. i think my car has a short hose off the gas tank filler neck that went back to the tank. thinking of making a tee off this and vent it there and put a breather filter on it.

Re: car hesitates at around 3700 rpm?

thanks for pointing out the ACCEL enrichments. i should have disabled it until i got my ve table better. or better yet, read the megamanual better on this part. i haven't touched the ACCEL enrichments settings at all, mainly because i'm not exactly sure what it does. i thought what triggered the rpm ...

car hesitates at around 3700 rpm?

after my second run of logging, i've analyzed using megalog viewer, then imported it into my megasquirt (msii, 3.57, firmware 2.67). i should have adjusted some of the values to make it more gradual, but didn't. was too giddy with excitement. went for my third run. did wot and i think at around 3700 ...

Excess Air (?) Fuel Pressure

i've converted my 80 corolla (te72) from a carb setup to an efi setup. below is a diagram of my fuel system setup. i basically ran a new fuel run into the fuel rail from the fuel tank. then from the fuel pressure regulator, utilized the existing original feed and return fuel steel lines back the he ...

Re: fuel pressue regulator not holding pressure

thanks for all the replies. it seems like everyone's setup acts a little differently depending on what you have installed.

i ended up changing the following on my fuel setup:

- changed the fuel pressure regulator from an ebay special to the MSD-2222 (vacuum boost sensitive. basically re branded ...
