Re: MRE Sensors

David,
Honestly what I am looking for is a square wave type sensor to fit in a distributor and read a trigger wheel. It seems to me that what you are talking about and what I was talking about may be the same thing. I read that these MRE sensors have 3 wires and produce a square wave signal. Do you ...

MRE Sensors

Ok, Has anyone had sucess using mre sensors with megasquirt. I have read that these sensors work like VR sensors but put out a square signal. More information can be found here: www.globaldensoproducts.com/em/gem/vctcs/camcrank.html

This seems like a much better option than flying magnet hall ...

Yeah, It should work nice, then when you see the light you just pull over. Thats really what you would do if any other system failed. Good luck and post if you need help!

Re: Coolant temp sensor to control ignition retard

What you could do is use the spare port settings and have your MS turn on a big warning light when your coolant temp gets above a certain temperature. You could get a shift light or something that you can't ignore.

Re: Coolant temp sensor to control ignition retard

you can use IAT, but I haven't heard of someone Using CLT to retard the timing. It is too constant due to the mass of the coolant. I think that if your engine is overheating you are going to have really high intake temperatures. Lean running engines or retarded engines run hot, so why do you want to ...

Re: Recommendation for TPS??

That sounds interesting. It sounds like your Nissan TPS is just wired back-wards. You should be able to get it to work, I would check it again. I think that after it is wired properly and then calibrated with the MS in mega tune it will work nice.

Re: GM IAT as CLT for aircooled VW?

CB performance sells a gm style CHT sensor that they had custom made to screw in to a late model air cooled VW head. If you use it you don't have to change any bias resistors, and it is fast to react.

Re: Major Noise problem in datalog

That makes sense. I know that for me there is a problem with MegaTune noise in Vista as well. Do you think that there is a setting in Vista that will allow you to change that buffer, or is it locked away in the kernel somewhere? I know that Windows has their administrator permission settings, along ...

Re: Major Noise problem in datalog

Phil,

I hope you had a good vacation.
I will try using windows again when your new release is out. I dont think I will go back to windows permently though.

Do you think that the noise problem could be the OS? Maybe the fact that the linux kernel is more efficent with plug and play hardware than ...

OK, I am converting to Linux for good......

Same Computer, Same Hardware, Same Car, Same Weather, Same Plugs, Same Wires, SAME EVERYTHING!

Different OS

If I run Puppy Linux with TunerStudioMS, and Megatune, I don't have any noise problems. Does anybody know what gives? :?

Re: tuning ?'s and issues

Did you say that you have the ms in the car? If you haven't installed it yet, I would recommend that you start there, then work on your tune once you have the engine started, otherwise it is mostly theory, and you may end up more confused than you have to be if you start tuning an invisible engine ...

Re: Reversing MS fuel pump control signal

what is wrong with a relay? MS can't handle the current that a fuel pump draws directly. You may want to test and see how much current the fuel pump trigger wire draws. A relay would be your best bet.

Re: No RPM with EDIS

As I have said time and again, check your wiring at your VR sensor, I have an edis 4 and the rpm didn't register when I wired the blue to blue and grey to grey. You may want to wire Blue to grey and grey to blue. The module and connectors were out of the same car. I know it doesn't make sense, but ...

Re: Coolant sensor readings

Bob,
Glad you got it working. I found that It is easy to have a typo when entering the information for the sensor calibration. This will only throw the curve off over a third of the range.

I posted a reply to your IAC problems here: http://www.msefi.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=27717

I notice that after I input new numbers in the thermistor table and come back later, that the old default numbers appear in the table. Is this normal?
