Re: VE Map rpm bin selection

This question is along the lines of this post so: If you have a turbo car that puts out 10psi/170KPA then should you make your VE tables max MAP bin at 250KPA or just slightly above like 180KPA? On my turbo car I placed the max MAP bin about 20 kPa higher than my highest expected boost level. I can...

Re: General MS tuning question: VE table changes

Hi TTC, The only tuning by hand I do anymore (and it has been awhile actually) is in the area right around idle. Everything else I let MegaLogViewer do the adjustments based on my target AFR's. Try playing around with the idle mixtures to get a feel for how the AFR's change as you change the cell va...

Re: pinging like crazy??

Post your MegaSqurit file (MSQ). That will help a lot.

Thanks,

Re: Looking for a shop or individual in Michigan to tune my MS

Hi there, You really should do reasonably well following the steps in the Megamanual, seaching on topics you don't quite get, and just plugging away at it. Then, if you really get stuck, post specific questions along with your MSQ file and you'll most likely get the help you are looking for. Patrick

Thanks nismoryco! I'll give that ini file a try.

Re: Tool to Test IAC Motor

You could take advantage of a variable that is already in the code. It is called IdleAdj and is in in2ram. Change your Megatune ini to put this variable in a dialog box. Change that value and it will change your idle step. I've done this while debugging my dad's IAC. Hi Nismoryco, would you mind ex...

Hi there,

I've not heard of any RPM issues with the toothed wheels. If you are really concerned about it though, you could set up the wheel on the bench and see how it behaves at higher RPM. Not sure if you can get something to spin it 10k RPM though, that is pretty fast.

I'm not that familiar with GM engines, but I'd think those parts would be available at a dealer. What I did was find a late model car in the junk yard and I took off the entire engine and engine comparment wiring harnesses. Stripped it down and used the wire (nicely color coded stuff!) and the conne...

50 Watts can't be the right number. A 35 ohm resistor at 14 volts is only drawing 5.6 Watts. I can't think of any reason to multiply that figure by a factor of 10. I'd go back and double check the wattage and/or the resistence values. One off those is off.

I'd start with the 14 lb injectors. There are problems with idle quality if you get too big. I'm fighting the battle now with injectors that are just a little too big. Start with the small ones, tune it, and if you are running out of headroom at WOT, then you can play with the bigger injectors. Sure...

Yes, measuring across the pins is the right way to do it. If you are reading no resistence, then yeah, they are toast. I would have expected however for them to fail with a very high to infinite resistence. Do you have your MS setup so that the LED flashes when the injectors are getting a pulsewidth...

My guess would be yes, and the reason being that the fuel temp will most likely be different from the air temp. Also, as the fuel evaporates off the temp sensor, it will cool it off. I'd plug the hole you made and see if you can move the sensor further upstream.

What are you using to power MS? It should light up fine if you are using a 12 volt battery.

Hi there, I'm wondering what you are hoping to gain by going to ITB's? I would think the variable intake design would give enough advantages of its own that you'd just keep it. Also, if you to the ITB route, you need to get a "clean" MAP signal that MS can use. This means you'll need to ru...

If you haven't done a lot of tuning work yet, then yes, I would try the different settings. If you have a fully tuned VE map with your current injector settings, and you are happy with your idle, then I wouldn't bother. Changing these injector settings will also require a change to the Req_Fuel and ...

Yup, that is the way it works. You do have them wired correctly btw. Even though one of the injectors is always squirting at a closed valve, the gas doesn't go away. It stays in the intake runner and gets sucked in on the next intake stroke. The X-Tau accel enrichment works on the concept that some ...

Thanks for the response. These are pintle type injectors and I currently have them setup as follows:

Injector open time: 1 ms
PWM current limit: 35%
PWM time threshold: 1.5 ms

I'm running 4 squirts alternating on a 4-cyl engine.

PWM Current Limit: Changing it seems to make no difference

I've got low impedance injectors, flyback board, MS-II running the latest code. I've been trying to tune in my injector characteristics and have noticed that changes to PWM current limit don't seem to affect the idle quality. Changes to the opening time definitely does, and I've tuned that to 1.5 ms...
