Grounding ls2 coils

Can i run both grounds for these couls to the same place? I dont have a signal ground back to the ecu and would like to ground them both at the engine.

Perhaps some filter caps would be ok?

Re: Looking for some 2 wire COPs, any ideas?

is there any reason i couldnt use an igbt to trigger the 5v pullup? i just bought a 3 wire pwm valve controller board from glens garage, and it comes with two ignition drivers.

Re: edis and lsx coils?

How so? Doesnt the edis module ground the coil to charge it? Isnt that the same thing that the ls coils do?

Re: edis and lsx coils?

So the ls coils' ground the signal line to the main 12volt ground in addition to the signal ground? Whats the difference between applying a 5v signal to them with a hardwired ground and switchig the ground with a hardwired 5v applied to the signal? O

Re: edis and lsx coils?

The edis module would be grounding the 5v signal line, which shouldnt have any amperage to speak of gking through it. My question is if the ls modules will fire this way. Grounding coils and injectors seems to be the common denominator in engine management systems, so i think im right, or at least ...

edis and lsx coils?

Ive been searching, and i have yet to find a legitimate reason i couldnt do this. If i wire the vref to the ecu signal power and ground the coils through the edis module, wouldnt this work just fine? Any reasons why it shouldnt? I assume the vref line is robust enough to handle additional logic ...

Re: ls1 and similar smart coils: how are they fired?

My particular engine is a v4 with a 180 degree crank. I need 4 ignition drivers with this bike, thats why im keeping the stock ign module. Plus the crank pickup is weird, and i cant change it because its built into the starter clutch mechanism. I was thinking maybe a 555 timer set to trigger a ...

ls1 and similar smart coils: how are they fired?

I want to put ls coils on my bike. Are they fired just like a standard coil, but with a low current 5v signal? If i were to wire them to my ground switched ign module with some kind of 5v regulator in the switched lead to the coils, would that work out alright? Im keeping stock ign and ...

well, i figured it out. heres what i did.

i used the factory ignition module in the wheelwell. i removed the signal for reference pulse from the mocule thats controlling the ignition to the ECU and ran it JUST to the megasquirt and grounded the low line. (just like it shows for GMDIS setup pages) i ...

i have been informed i may need to install a FET signal booster into the reference pulse line cause im sharing it with the MS. is this true? it seems like a plausible concept.
