Re: PWM with resistor pack on L-jet?

Hmmm, I've got it completely dialed in with the current settings. Besides, I'm leaving for Africa on Saturday... What are the risks when I just leave the settings this way? I don't really look forward to having to tune from scratch again.

PWM with resistor pack on L-jet?

I'm running an L-jetronic engine with stock injectors connected to the stock resistor pack. In the stock setup the injectors are connected directly to the battery through a resistor pack. The injecors have a resistance of 2.5 ohms and the resistor in front of it 1 ohm. This combination would in ...

Swapped the wires and that fixed it...

Now, need to make the sparkplug wires, do the initial setup and see if it'll run on MS 8)

Re: No RPM with EDIS (coil disconnected)

Can't edit my post anymore... Just wanted to add that I used the following settings in TunerStudio:

Settings/MegaTune

In MegaTune, set:

* Trigger offset = 0° (this will vary slightly, depending on the wheel/pickup configuration),
* Ignition Input Capture to 'Rising Edge', ('Falling Edge' for ...

No RPM with EDIS (coil disconnected)

Hi,

I just did a little test to make sure the RPM signal was working. My vehicle is running on it's original injection system (L-jetronic). The Megasquirt (MS II, board V3) is all wired up, except it is not connected to the IAT, CLT and injectors. I'm using Tunerstudio to monitor the sensors and ...

Shielded wire between MS and EDIS

I'm working on building my wiring harness and I have a quick question:
I have located my EDIS computer about 5 inches away from my MS ecu. Is it necessary to shield the wire, going from the EDIS connector to the MS connector, for this really short distance?

Keep injector pins 32-35 seperate?

In the ms wiring diagram injector pins 32 and 33 (and 34 and 35) are bridged together. Is this necessary? I'm connecting MS to my stock L-jet wiring harness and there is has separate wires for each injector. So my question is, is it safe to connect the injectors like so:

pin 32 - injector 1
pin 33 ...

Re: Go with Hall or VR?

Thanks for the opinion. I just bought the dizzy. If the dizzy has little wear I think I'll go that route. That'll save me a lot of work, that's for sure. :)

Go with Hall or VR?

Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of installing a MegaSquirt system in my 78 VW Bus. The stock aircooled engine has a point based triggering system. However, for the 79 Californian models VW used different dizzies, these are electronic ignition units and they use a hall sensor. See image below:

Re: No o2 and RPM signal

Awesome, it's working! :D :D :D :D :D

For the record, I got R56 all the way CCW and R52 two rotations CW, gives me stable rpm from 0 to 7k rpm.

Re: No o2 and RPM signal

I found the problem, U7 was still in a pink bag. And errr, I couldn´t find U4... So... I installed U4 in the place of U7. Do you think this may have busted a component? Or should I be good if I just desolder it and put in U7?

Can't believe I actually made such a dumb mistake

Re: No o2 and RPM signal

Ok, so I swapped the VR jumpers to hall jumpers and added the xg1 xg2 jumper. It now does get a tach signal :).

So errr... what does this mean for the VR circuit?

Re: No o2 and RPM signal

It indeed was the R56 adjustment that caused the "short". So that shouldn't be the culprit then. I verified the wheel decoder is set to 0 in megatune.

Re: No o2 and RPM signal

Sorry for having a bit of a single sides topic here

It's quite hard to do searches because I can't search for 3 char terms like rpm or Q23. I just started looking through older topics and some similar problems occurred, some people had ...

Re: No o2 and RPM signal

Ok, did some more testing,

I did the LED test, and it flashes when I connect it to ground and VRIN/TACHSELECT, so summarizing:

- Stim is adapter powered, MS has 9.8 volts on U5 and 4.99 on the regulated side.
- D1 and D2 are installed, D2 is installed in reverse and jumpered
- VRIN is jumpered to ...

Re: No o2 and RPM signal

Strange, I can't edit my posts for only a couple minutes after posting. Anyway, I did some more searching on the site and found that the o2 reading does not refresh if there is no rpm signal. I did a test by plugging in the MS, reading the AFR value, unplugging the power, changing the o2 pot and ...

No o2 and RPM signal

Hi

I'm at step 55 of the assembly and testing the inputs with megatune. My CLT, IAT, TPS and mapdaddy are working. However my o2 and rpm gauges are not.

For the o2 I checked the voltage output on pin 28 of the cpu socket, it receives a voltage there and when I change to o2 pot the voltage changes ...
