Re: thinking about using ms

There is a section in the manual titled configuring MegaSquirt II. and tuning MegaSquirt II.
In the Configuring MegaSquirt II Enter the parameters for your engine. The basic tune should get the engine running at idle.
The Tuning MegaSquirt II tells how to get the engine tuned.

Re: MS on my 72 Chevelle SBC... A few questions?

I would keep the relay board. Makes for a neat instillation. You say you are inclined to get some relays and fuse holders and attach them in line. How will you mount the relays and fuses? Having them dangling on the wires will not make a tidy package.

the resin will help to keep the solder iron tip clean and help the solder stick to what ever you are soldering.

Re: MS on my 72 Chevelle SBC... A few questions?

I am using Qualitek RA300 Rosin Core .032" dia solder... Apparently it is lead free :-( I was under the impression that I just had to use a rosin core solder when soldering electronics, never read anything about specific lead contents. I can get 60/40 rosin core .032" at Radio shack. So I...

Re: planning an MS system for a Pontiac 455

Thanks Ken,

That is basically how I modified the distributor for the Pontiac 455. Only I didn't cut it down that far.
Fabricated a cover out of 2 inch tubing.
Still looking for the photos. May have to dig out the distributor and take more photos.

Re: planning an MS system for a Pontiac 455

and a drive for the oil pump. I cut the top off my large cap HEI and with a small amount of machine work at my local shop, voila!!! No dizzy! Just a small stub and still drives the oil pump. I will post a pic if anyone wants to see it. Yes, that is what I did too. I used a distributor from a Pontia...

Re: planning an MS system for a Pontiac 455

One answer to the distributor problem is to obtain an early points type distributor and convert it to an electronic distributor. Conversion kits that come to mind are the Pertronix Electronic Points Ignition and Mallory Unilite. On other thing to remember when converting to sequential ignition is, t...

Re: fuel pump wire issue

Normal operation of the fuel pump is: at key on the fuel pump will run for a few seconds then shut off unless there is a rpm signal signifying engine start.

Re: Max length of MAP vacuum line?

Don't use rubber hose. Use Nylon type hose. Most all modern cars use this type of tubing. It will not crack, split or deteriorate over time.
Also harder to pinch it closed.

Re: Fuel cell intank pump

I got a new 15gal alum fuel cell and I want to mount an in tank fuel pump. Its 18"Lx20"Wx10"D My idea is to get a round tube about 5" round weld a bottom on, then cut the side out about 5" from the bottom. Then mount the pump inside and return line inside. There will be a 6...

Re: Coax Wire and CPS

You may have to lengthen the outer wire by cutting back the gray outer insulation, gather up the outer shield wire and twist into a pig tail and solder a length of regular wire to it. Remember, only solder the shield to ground on the MegaSquirt end. I would contact Boot Engineering to find out which...
