I have some good news. I obtained an FTDI adapter that converts a USB port into an RS232 port. I connected to the car today without any drop outs. I had the FTDI adapter plugged into the laptop and one of my existing serial cables from the adapter to MS.

LT401Vette, Thanks for the repy. I've tried three cables. I'll look for another laptop/pc to rule out whether the problem is with my laptop. If the problem still exists with a different computer then back to trying another cable. WisAndy

In the video, the engine was not running until near the end. You may notice some shaking when I started the engine.

Have a file for you to look at. Activated comm debug. All of the behavior is the same as the video. I could not start the car because the battery was run down from leaving the trunk open for two days.

I will save the current TunerStudioAppDebug.txt file under another name if we need to refer back. Start TS and turn on the comm debug feature and send you that file. It will be later today. The car is at a different location from where I am now.

When I start TunerStudio it says across the top of the screen TunerStudio MS Lite! v2.0.6

I attempted to attach TunerStudioAppDebug.txt. Mine is over 3 MB. Message from the forum max. allowed is 1 MB. Is there a way around this?

trakkies, Thanks for the advice. I already bought some connectors at radioshack and used the audio cable I had on hand. The home made cable checks out with the jimstim. Will know how it works on the car later this morning. I'll let you know how it works. WisAndy

trakkies, Thanks for that idea. I have some audio cable left from putting the ignition on. The additional components should cost about the same as the DIYAutoTune cable plus shipping. The big issue is the reduced turn around time. Thanks again. WisAndy

LT401vette, Thanks again for the reply. I have a Dell laptop running XP with a real serial port. I'm not well versed on these things but I would expect that the cord should not be a problem. Please advise accordingly. WisAndy

LT401vette, Thanks for the reply. The cables I have were declared by the seller to be shielded. I see that DIYAutoTune has a cable for $5.50 plus shipping. Unless you know of a better cable I'll get that one. I'll let you know what happens. WisAndy
