Re: Cold starts perfect, hot re-starts very lean question.

Matt, an update.

V2.88 was not allowing me to enter 0's in the X-Tau decel tables, it gave me an error message to use minimum values. (Note: the megamanual says 2.850+ allows Tau=0). I went into the .ini file and changed the minimum limits to 0 for both X and T on decel. only (was 2 and 5). Using ...

Re: Cold starts perfect, hot re-starts very lean question.

Thanks Matt.
The VEs are pretty good and I can run with only accel. pump simulation smoothly except I see the benefit of using X-Tau in the EGO data. I am trying to go lean when coasting above 1200RPM/MAP below 20 as much as possible. When I snap off the throttle (between shifts) the MAP goes into ...

Re: High Idle on Cold starts After Full Warmup

If Matt does not see something in the data here is what I did to understand the IAC operation. I removed the IAC from the car and plugged the holes. Then I made an "extension cord" long enough to get it to the driver's seat area. I powered up Megasquirt without starting the engine and observed the ...

Re: Cold starts perfect, hot re-starts very lean question.

For the hot start surging issue I found the voltage reg. was surging (+/- 1V) and the pulse width comp. was too sensitive. That issue is fixed now. I still have a lot of IAT correction but the curve (-10% at 0F to +15% at 175F) is working fairly well from 40 deg. F to 120 deg. F.
The GM open element ...

Re: Start Value to close the IAC for consistent starting

Hey Holl,
I am also using a GM IAC on a 5.1L V-8. It works fine and I can turn the key on/off many times and still get the correct value at a start.
The values I am using are -40 F has 40 steps and 180 F has 250 steps. The curve shape is almost linear between those values.
I am using IAC always on ...

Cold starts perfect, hot re-starts very lean question.

Hey all,
Got cold starts (less than 60 deg. F coolant and intake air) perfect but after the engine hot soaks for 30 minutes or so the hot re-start is very lean causing surging. The engine compartment is very tight with a big V-8 and I see intake air temps, as measured at the air cleaner element ...

Re: Bosch K-Jetronic (CIS) Ignition to MS-II ignition

Thanks Dave, you bring up some valid concerns. I too am working with a V8 engine. I will look into the EDIS option a little more as I do not fully understand it's configuration and weeknesses. Maybe someone has addressed these issues????
Thanks again, Mike

Bosch K-Jetronic (CIS) Ignition to MS-II ignition

I want to start running ignition control with MS-II and V3.0 board (running great on fuel-only currently) on my former 1979 CIS car, now modified to a hot street setup. I want to use the original Bosch VR distributor, Bosch coil and transistor ignition module (Bosch 0 227 100 008 (not124)). The ...
