Re: AEM Wideband wiring

The Spartan Sensor ($105 IIRC; can't replace the sensor) is out of stock; the Spartan lambda controller ($75 by itself, $125 if you want to include a replaceable sensor) is still listed as available.

I just realized what you were saying. Does this mean any Bosch LSU 4.2 Wideband O2 Sensor has the ...

Re: AEM Wideband wiring

So you are saying that
RED - Connect to a switched, fused (5A) 12 volt power source.
BLACK – Connect to a clean power ground.
WHITE - Connect to Lambda + Input. (Pin 23)
BROWN - Connect to sensor ground. Connect to power ground if sensor ground is not
available. ( any of the DB37 grounds)
*GREY ...

Re: AEM Wideband wiring

The question is about a wiring diagram for the MSII and the AEM lambda sensor. Specifically the DB 37 pins.

AEM Wideband wiring

I am looking to get this AEM 30-2310 - AEM Inline Wideband UEGO Controller since Spartan has been out of stock for months.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram? Specifically which wire goes to which pin on the MSII?
AEM has nothing on the pin out for the Megasquirt.
Here is a link to source of part ...

Re: How does the MS2 and Tuner Studio work?

I am idling at 1100 rpm and I change a value in the VE table. I can never find what I would call the smoothest setting

708803,m

You shouldn't be working towards the "smoothest setting', you should be working to achieve the lowest MAP value (highest vacuum) at idle. See: http://www.megamanual.com ...

Re: How does the MS2 and Tuner Studio work?

May be I need a step by step answer .
First the car operates fine. Always starts idles when warm and has reasonably smooth operation for a (2) cylinder air cooled 1970 N600 Honda car.

For example; I am idling at 1100 rpm and I change a value in the VE table. I can never find what I would call the ...

How does the MS2 and Tuner Studio work?

How does the MS2 and Tuner Studio work?
I believe MS2 is typically closed loop.
I believe the Trigger wheel sensor and the Map sensor are the only required sensors.
I believe initially both the VE and A/F tables are best guesses.
I believe that TS uses just the VE table and the Map sensor and ...

I will try that.
Should the the (2) variable resistors(for VR conditioning) on the main PCB be set at any particular place or do the have no effect on the hall sensor?

Re: Idle continually drops out

The "trigger +-" signal is generally pretty difficult to interpret; I wouldn't rely on that for troubleshooting here. Do you have a data log of how it's behaving with the changes to the sensor gap?

Here is latest log with about 0.016 max trigger gap and a variation of about 0.008 concentric.

Thanks for the information.
Since I have the sensor from DIYAutoTune (internal magnet) do I jumper my MS2 for a Hal sensor????

time mask and percentage mask

time mask and percentage mask

What are the correct settings for these. I am using a 36-1 trigger wheel and Hall effect crankshaft position sensor from DIYAutoTune. Since there are no magnets on the trigger wheel I would call the sensor a VR sensor.
The engine runs with them set at 0.0 ms and 50 ...

Re: Idle continually drops out

I reworked the mounting bracket for the hal sensor and now there is about 0.004 to 0.008 clearance. I cannot make it more concentric because it is aligned with a bolt. If the RPM is greater than 1400 there is no drop out. At idle it still drops out and each time the value of trigger signal goes ...

Re: Idle continually drops out

I moved the sensor in from 0.050 to 0.020. I am not sure how perpendicular the sensor is to the wheel or how concentric the wheel is to the crankshaft. The engine now drops out more consistently so I think this is the problem I need to solve first.
Can I read the output of the hall sensor with a ...

Idle continually drops out

From looking at this log I am unable to determine what is cause and what is result.
The problem is the RPM randomly drops to 0 and sometimes stalls. I can see that the
trigger signal changes but I don't know if this is because the ECU has a glitch or
the trigger is failing. The trigger also ...

Re: Sorting things out

You set the AFR to what you want; the VEAL will adjust the VE table so the WBO2 signal matches the desired AFR. In this case, a return of 14.4 signal vs 14.0 setting means the fuelling is a bit lean at that point, so the software will increase the corresponding VE slightly.

Got it!! I was ...

Re: Sorting things out

You set the AFR to what you want, according to your driving pattern and desired power and response. The VEAL and/or autotune will adjust the VE table according to the difference between the specified AFR table and the received AFR signal from the WBO2 sensor. As Ken said, no WB, no AFR signal. You ...
