Running rich

I am using a Throttle body injector that is designed for a (3) cylinder Geo on a (2) cylinder engine(1000cc vs 600cc). On my initial start up it is clear that the engine is running too rich. The software I am using is Tunerstudio. What tools do I have to lean things out and which ones do I try first?

Re: Injector flow rate

Lance

Thanks for the help. The help my "lite" version goes to did not have that info at all. The link you supplied sheds light on all sorts of info.

Injector flow rate

In Tunerstudio under general settings for fuel is "Injector Flow Rate" (g/s)
What are the units. grams per second or gallons per second?
Their help was not helpful.
Many thanks.

Re: Injector Wiring

The throttle body I am using has a low impedance injector(1.2ohms) I plan on putting an Omite ballast resistor(825F7RS per MS manual) in series to limit current. Where should this resistor be put. In series with the switched 12+ source to the injector or between the MS(pin 32) and injector?

Injector Wiring

I am using a throttle body injection. The injector has only (2) wires. One is +12v and the other is ground according to its manual. The MS2 wiring shows a +12v coming from the Main Relay and another wire coming from Pin 32 of the DB37 connector. Does that mean Pin 32 is an ECU controlled ground?

Direct Coil with GM DIS coil

I am using rewired single GM DIS coil with points to operate my engine. The engine is (2) cylinder and needs the waste spark design. When I disconnect the points setup and plug into the MS2 the engine will only run for a few seconds and the MS2 shuts down.
I have bench tested the MS2 with a ...

Re: Using MSII for ignition only

A floating TPS input can cause odd and annoying things to happen. Your initial post was about running without the various sensors, and you specifically mentioned running without a TPS. You can understand how Matt got the impression that you were running without a TPS ...
Sorry for confusion. Matt ...

Matt
What do you mean "ground the TPS input"? I have a TPS connected according to the wring diagram but it is no being rotated when I step on gas. I that what you mean?

Using MSII for ignition only

I am in the process of building a manifold for my throttle body and wondered if I could use the MSII for spark only and use the stock carburetor for fuel. This would only be temporary. Do I need a functioning TPS to do this or will the MSII do spark and advance with no feed back from other devices ...

Re: TunerStudio droping out on running motor only

Good and bad news. I followed your directive and replaced the long cable with a good RS232 one and put the adapter on the laptop end. TS no longer drops out or disconnects. Unfortunately I now see that the Megasquirt II could also have an intermittent issue.
Many thanks for solving the cable nose ...

Re: TunerStudio droping out on running motor only

I have the USB adapter( from DIYAutoTune) pluged on the MSII and I am using the supplied USB cable to the laptop USB receptacle.

Take the USB cable out of there and plug the adapter directly into the laptop. Use a standard DB9 serial cable for the extension.
Thanks for the quick and clear ...

TunerStudio droping out on running motor only

I think I have a USB to Serial problem. TS functions fine with the stim and in the car as long as the motor is not running. The motor runs fine with the MSII. I am only running the sensors and ignition timing at present. With the motor running the TS gauge screen locks up and moments later it goes ...

Re: Testing MSII for spark

2013-03-17_11.59.55.msl Can you post an MSQ and a data log of the problem?

Disregard previous quote here is my TS file N600 and the small log.

Here is a longer msq. I should note that the real RPM read with an IR tester was around 1400rpm. The problem still seems to be a communications drop and ...

Would an MSQ be a file? I am not sure what that is. I have Mega log viewer on my notebook but have never used it. I need some direction here as well. What file name am I looking for with Mega log Viewer?
Thanks for you patience.

Re: Testing MSII for spark

Does the MS see a good RPM signal when cranking?

I realize after I posted that the FP relay was designed to shut if the engine wasn't cranking so that problem is no longer a question. Here is the real problem.
When I start the engine with carb and stock coil, the trigger appears to output an ...

Re: Testing MSII for spark

When I switch on the MS I hear both relays click and than a moment later the fuel pump( grounded through the MS pin 37) relay switches off. Since I am testing only on this "running with carb motor" the fuel injection fuel pump is not even connected. What would make the MS turn off the fuel pump ...
