Re: Cold Start Issue

Ok,

Thanks for the info.

I do not have a MAP as it's all on Alpha.N I did think of trying a MAP but I thought it might just clutter everything up especially as it's an inlet over exhaust scenario, I.e. Non crossflow.

I will get some logs over the next while or so and post them up.

Once again ...

Re: Cold Start Issue

yes i am using TS :-)

I think its the cranking pulses that i cant get long enough, and i am 'topping' out on the wizard. The VE table looks good and 'sensible' throughout the table considering the nature of the engine.

It needs 'alot' of fuel to get going unfortunately. Hot start is much less of ...

Cold Start Issue

I run a full race, 4 cylinder, OHV engine in both Fuel and Ignition.

The engine used to run on twin 40 DCOE Webers which i have converted to throttle bodies.

The old way of starting was to give 10 pumps on the gas pedal and the engine would fire immediately and then judicious use of the gas pedal ...

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator - bit confused!!

Yes my question is completely aimed at the Fuel Pressure Regulator. I run my Ignition on RPM and TPS and will do so with fuel as well. I do not have a MAP sensor and do not intend to run one on this engine - Alpha-N for me on this one.

I have now been in contact with another person who runs the ...

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator - bit confused!!

Ok cheers for the answers.

I need to run a vacuum signal if at all possible, good.

However, i am still a little concerned that if my idle, and off idle to around 2500 rpm, produce a very low and erratic vacuum signal would this not cause me more problems than i might solve?

Cheers

Fuel Pressure Regulator - bit confused!!

I am in the process of getting the bits and bobs for the injection system on my Avenger Tiger.

I am a little confused about the fuel pressure regulator. My car runs ITBs but the pressure regulator has a vacuum input for the rising rate. Do i need to tap each runner to provide a vacuum signal for ...

Re: VR Sensor and No rpm reading - sort of!

Pluisje,

I chased the voltage from the Sensor and concluded it was a good set up thus concentrated on the Tuning Software.

Finaly found that i had the ignition algorith in Predicted rather than calculated and this then gave me a good rpm!

Then the ECU stopped working and is away being looked at ...

Re: VR Sensor and No rpm reading - sort of!

I put the settings in as follows:

No of Teeth = 36
Missing teeth = 1
Skip Teeth = 18
Delay teeth = 18 (wheel is 180 out on crank)

Tried with the sensor wired one way and then opposite and with another sensor but still no rpm reading. Checked that there is connection from MS plug to VR plug and i ...

VR Sensor and No rpm reading - sort of!

Ford VR sensor, 36-1 wheel, Microsquirt latest version all running in shadow mode on a carb and dizzyed engine.

When i start the engine and Tuner Studio is in the default state for trigger wheels i get rpm rise and fall as per the engine but with very sill high values - 14k rpm and up.

If i set ...

Re: Adding a second Water temp sensor - Physicaly

Surely if the MS sensor is in the top hose after the thermostat the sensor will not reflec the warm up cycle of the engine and thus the MS will not be getting a linear input of the engine warming?

Re: Adding a second Water temp sensor - Physicaly

An alternative i am thinking about now is to have the MS sensor in the normal position and then put the dash sensor into the top hose.

Then the ECU gets info in real time and the dash might lag but in normal operation it should read steady and if it changes there is a problem.

I think that will ...

Re: Adding a second Water temp sensor - Physicaly

Would a T work? I supose on reflection its not much different than a capillary fed gauge. I was trying to avoid being 'beyond' the thermostat or having to take the head off!

Cheers

Adding a second Water temp sensor - Physicaly

I am having a little trouble deciding where to put the extra Water Temp sensor on my engine. I have a 1972 hillman Avenger and the standard water temp sender is just under the thremostat in the head. Very similar to where the sender is mounted on a classic mini.

I need to keep this for the dash ...
