EDIS Coil Capacitors - 0.25uF NOT 25uF??

I have 3 of the silver can style coil capacitors that I grabbed from the JY with my coils. Unless my trusty Fluke meter is wrong, these things are 0.25uF, not 25uF.

Any thoughts/concerns/comments on this?

I am hunting down an "RPM signal goes nuts" problem at 3,500 rpm. It is extremely consistent ...

Re: Which coil is best for direct coil drive wasted spark?

Can I ask what you don't like about the EDIS plug lead connectors? Is it just looks - they work very well indeed.

I would like to do custom length wires, and have more selection. Some of the explorer wires I got are just tooo long in places.

Beyond that they seem OK. I just hate going off the ...

Which coil is best for direct coil drive wasted spark?

I presently have an EDIS-8 system, but I am investigating direct fire.

I hate the spark plug wire connector towers on the EDIS system, so something like the mitsubishi / dodge coil pack shown here looks nice: http://www.msdignition.com/Products/Coils/Stock_Replacement/8239_-_Mitsubishi_Dodge_Coil ...

Re: Rough bank on a v8

These ford thunderbird turbocoupe brown top injectors seem to like 1.3ms or more initial pulse. I tried to turn it higher but megatune advised that I shouldn't, so I stopped there. This may be part of why running rich makes it run better.

Now I need to track down why my RPM reading goes nuts at 3k ...

Re: Rough bank on a v8

Yep, I don't have any crazy 360 degree header setup.

I finally went back to RTFM and I see there is a lot I could do with PWM settings. I have quite a hodgepodge of Thunderbird Turbocoupe injectors, and I wouldn't be surprised if at least some of them aren't jiving just right.

Re: Rough bank on a v8

Alright, so I messed with moving around injectors, and the results are inconclusive, will mess with it more tomorrow. Apparently I am losing faith in my "feel exhaust pulses with hands" method. As the car is right now I can't figure out if one side is worse than the other, so I will rewind one step ...

Rough bank on a v8

Engine: ford 5.0 HO
ignition: EDIS 8
injectors: 35lb low impedence, using flyback board and 30% PWM setting.

Looking for some ideas from people who know what they are doing! :RTFM:

This is a new build, so I can't say the engine has ever run right to begin with.

I can get the engine to idle, but ...

Re: Ugh, terrible experience.

Sorry to hear this. One thing you'll want to check - make sure the injectors don't have power when the ECU is shut down. The ECU injector drivers go into an intermediate state and may be stuck on, which isn't good for either the drivers or the motor. (Or the battery, for that matter.)

I am using ...

Ugh, terrible experience.

Spent good chunk of the day figuring out why the engine wouldn't run... that was a simple connection problem.

Run the engine a little bit, runs rough. Start it again later, even more rough. Look at the battery voltage meter in megatune and its reading in the 9V range. The car doesn't have an ...
