Re: Ms on a VW mk2 golf 2.0l 16v, a few questions

I have some pretty good fuel/spark maps from a stock ABF I tuned on msruns.com that would be a good starting point if you're nervous about doing it yourself.

Re: IAC Valve

No idle valve gives you a low cold idle rpm and a higher hot idle rpm, and depending on where you set it, you can stall coming to a stop.

However you can drill a hole in the manifold, install a fitting and fit something like a Bosch 2 wire PWM valve in almost anything relatively easily.

Re: Can a vw throttle body with tps be used?

Also, don't be confused by the 88-92 throttle bodies with the 3 wire connector with two switches (idle/wot) attached. VW tb's from auto cars of those years, as well as 92-95 aba or VR6 are good choices.

Re: information about megasquirt

You can put Megasquirt on almost anything. Not knowing much about that engine, you might want to check out MSRuns.com and see if anyone has had success previously. Is this engine similar to the B230?

Re: 95 VR6

It's a DB37 ;) The systems I provide have all the necessary internal modifications to allow all stock sensors, coilpack, etc to be used. It comes with the software preconfigured, but I would not call it pre-tuned. At this time I do not offer plug and play harnesses, as I just don't have the time to ...

Re: 95 VR6

At the very least you need to use the LED's for spark outputs to the stock coilpack. On a V3 it's three resistors and three jumper wires, on a 3.57 you can use the PAD locations and just jumper wires. The other board mods are pretty std, like tsel to vrin and vroutinv to tachselect.

Do you want to run the 3 pin coils or 4 pin coils? There is a major difference in hardware mods needed.

Yes I used a 20/40 switchable for a long time before I bought an adjustable temp one. Just make sure you have an appropriate sized tip and it'll be fine.

Pretty sure it's 12v on one end, ground on the other and ground to trigger on the center. It's a dummy ignition amp so you will need dwell control ON. You don't need to use the MS onboard ignition driver with it.
