Re: voltage drop and electrical issues

can low voltage to the injectors not to open and close correctly? i tried a new FPR and that didn't help, as far as i can tell its down to the injectors or the MS. I data logged it running which i can only do at part throttle and it bounces around a lot (see attached) either i fried the injectors or...

Re: voltage drop and electrical issues

stim is MIA at home 3 states away and which regulator (inside the MS) are you referring to? i re-did the grounds and now it sees 12v. i think part of the issue was i had the fan on switched 12v and that was pulling the voltage to the MS down low adding the fuel, in addition to an iffy ground. im sti...

voltage drop and electrical issues

Well, ive had my MS-II intalled and running my mitsubishi 6G72 3.0L v6 for over a year and over 10,000 miles. had a few hickups but for the most part its been quite reliable, even to the point of 30mpg highway driving. however, ive recently run into a baffling issue that i can't seem to figure out a...

Re: Northstar CoP

you could wire 8 coils (in 4 pairs) to run a wasted spark Pseudo CoP setup. you'd still need to pair the coils to complimentary cylinders, but each coil would only be firing one cylinder. aside from the GPIO or sequencer, i dont think theres any provisions for CoP

+1 to that lance. i have no IAC or fast idle valve and even on a 2 day cold soak at 40* or less, she starts up and runs fine :-D its one less thing to break/tune

well, swapped the coils and found that the 1-4 coil was cracked. got in and she fired right up with the new coils and ran fairly well. too bad i didnt see that earlier. added some stabil to the tank and ran her for a bit to get the sabilized fuel into the lines and injectors. at least i know she wor...

did some more work on it today, upped the req_fuel and VE table, but she still will only start and die after a little bit. Still runs very rough. was able to keep her running for a bit around 4000rpms, but started to smell something hot. looked outside the car and the muffler was radiating a ton of ...

wierd running

ok, changed the opening time and it seemed to help, BUT it was still running rich, and i could only semi-keep it running by holding the threttle open, and even then it would surge. it would rev up some, almost die, rev again etc. i have a datalog and .msq and tables.

yeah, now that i better understand how the opening time works with MS, i dont think i had changed the opening time when i was running the 2.3 code, i know i put in 1.4 when i upgraded to the 2.883b code.

my req_fuel was at most 16 when i was idling at 1 or 0 VE, i brought that down to 13 with no noticeable effect on the motor.

the calculator spits out a req_fuel of about 15ish for a 215hp 181ci motor on 6, 20lb (or 210cc) injectors

so its ONLY the opening time and not both combined? that might explain alot... so, with the opening time of 1.4 (instead of .7-1.0) there would be an additional .4-.7 ms of fuel, which, even with a VE of 1, would still give fuel to run the car... that sound about right? cant find where i found the o...

Lance, I'm not quite sure what you mean about the 0.7 msec times totalling to 1.4. Injector opening times don't add, maybe you are saying the opening and closing time are both 0.7, and this adds to 1.4? If so, I don't think that's right, for MegaSquirt you want to subtract them (i.e., if the opening...

Thanks Lance, ill try and answer what i can tonight and get the rest tomorrow hopefully. Could you describe clearly and concisely what the problem is? ok, what happened originally was: pre-issue) ran well on 2.3 code, drove car round the block until EDIS wheel welds broke. re-welded wheel (properly)...

ok, spent the afternoon redoing nearly all the connections with solder and shrink tubing to eliminate any shorts, bad connections enc. But when i started her up, shes running so godawfully rich i cant figure it out for the life of me. i got a different set of injectors that looked fine when i turned...

ok, i dont think the MS is at fault now. I switched the ground wires for the banks so the back bank was triggering off of the channel that was triggering the front bank earlier. SAME PROBLEM. this leads me to believe i have clogged or bad injectors on the back bank. i think they got clogged due to t...

it does not short with the DB37 disconected teh injectors only misbehave during and after cranking, on key-on the FP primes with no injector leaking. i tested the standard flyback components and the PWM components, but have MS configured for high impedance injectors. Standard R33 - 226 ohms R18 - 26...

problem found - injectors staying wide open

ok, today i did the following: 1) checked the impedance of all 6 injectors and got ~13.5-14 ohms. 2) checked the wiring to both banks of injectors, no shorts, nothing. 3) removed upper intake and with spark plugs removed, physically watched injectors as the motor was cranked over. I observed the fro...
