Lucas "laser "style injectors or bosch disc style

Post by mxmang »

I think I'm maxing out my 19 lb injectors on my engine making around 150 160 hp... any thoughts on if i should use these bosch disc style?

I read the faq from sdsefi and it was saying the ones i have now have lousy throttle response and bad idle but the bosches should work a lot better overall... (better atomization etc.)

Btw its like 190 cc with the lucas 19#'s and 24 lb or 240 or so cc with the bosch discs....

Any input is appreciated!

When you say you think you're maxing out your injectors, either you are or you aren't - does the duty cycle hit more than ~80-90%? If so, they're maxed out and need to be bigger. If not, you're not maxing them out and it's something else.

What SDS actually say is:
The Lucas type buries the disc up inside the body to reduce the mass of the assembly for quicker response. The Lucas types typically have a very narrow spray pattern which can affect idle and throttle response in some cases.
I say if the symptoms they mention are that noticeable on your engine, try other more obvious things first, like tuning (which costs nothing) before swapping injectors. I run the Lucas type on mine and have had no problems.

the boschs were old and were from an engine which was 100 hp n/a stock... i'm using an engine that makes around 150 160 hp

good news, injectors running 13.2-5 :1 make an 81% duty cycle in 3rd gear around the peak power levels...

in my case, these injectors helped, not to say either design is superior, thanks anyways!
