Got it running! But have a question

Post by HPjunkie »

MS II 2.883 code with relay board and lm-1 patched in and running. 2332 Turbo @15 PSi Manx style buggy. After sorting out the grounded shielded wire on the VR it runs. My friend Steve has an turbo air cooled like mine and we can bounce ideas. That makes it fun and the support is good too. I can get it to start but not stay running without a blip on the throttle until it gets warm. Seems like a carb without a choke. And if it dies I have to give it some pedal to restart. (flood clear)? This is bone cold. 70-100 deg. Anyway after its warm i still have a little stumble. I will report on that later. Thats kinda of confusing the accel wizard. I cant find the wizard part... : ). I cant even figure out where to put the slider % or the numbers for the MAP or TPS Rate or what!!! Dummy. Tonight was my first noght trying the Megalog viewer. I think I love it. Any tricks? Whew goodnite. Greg

Under the Tuning menu there is an option called Warm Up Wizzard. That is where you adjust the warm up enrichments - very much like the choke on a carb.

The flood clear threshold is also in the warm up wizzard and the default is 70% open

The AE Wizzard is under Tuning also. However, I would not even think about AE until you get the settings sorted out for start-up, warm up, idle and the VE table is faily tuned. Then keep in mind changes to the VE can impact the AE needed.

Follow the tuning manual, it is the best order and way for tuning. http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/tune.htm

Thanks Bleoh, I do keep reffering back to that stuff but am only absorbing a little at a time. One problem I have is at the initial cranking cold it fires and idles about 10 seconds and dies. Then it will not restart unless i open the throttle a few degrees. It starts like a carb car with no choke. The mixture is about 13 to 1 at this point. Do you know what mixture is normal when cold? I have adjusted the cold start enrichment to 50% increase with no avail and reduced it to 10% over and no marked difference. I will continue to fiddle with it. After its warm it starts perfectly.

you may need more air, check where your FIDLE valve is set

No fiddle valve. I wasnt sure if I needed one so didnt put one on. I did think about that though. I have a provision to add one. I would have to add the circuts to the board. Is it possible to run without one?

Yes, you can run without one. I have one, but I haven't made it work correctly yet. I also hold the throttle open a little when starting my engine, (very similar to yours). The ACVW seems sorta picky with regards to WUE and ASE. I use very little ASE and flatten out my WUE at around 140 deg F. I also dis-able the ASE on hot starting.
Find a soft place to beat your head on if you decide to tune AE without a, "reasonably" accurate VE table. I've had a problem with the boost form the turbo triggering the AE if I run any % MAP accel value, so I run strictly TPS. Individual results may vary however.
