GSXR600 TB Choke Replacment

Post by leokenner »

I have used a set of 01 GSXR600 Throttle Bodies to convert my 98 CBR900RR to EFI.

The GSXR bodies use a manual choke, that I was thinking of replacing it with some sort of pull solenoid... I was just wondering what other people have tried/used?

Thank you kindly,

Leo

In order to "choke" an EFI set-up, you basically create a small vacuum leak , so a manual choke butterfly will not work. Your MAP sensor will detect this additional air and add fuel accordingly. There is also the ASE and the temp tables adding fuel when the engine is cold, so what you need is more air, not less. There are a few Intake Air configurations in the Manual that could help you with this strategy. On your set-up I'd suggest a simple open/close valve.

I should clarify, that what I meant by a choke, is really a idle stop. So when you pull the choke plunger, it opens the butterflyies a little bit to allow more air in for cold starting.

What I would like to do is replace the choke plunger so that its all controlled by the MS.

That would be an IAC valve. We have an adapter to fit a Jeep 4.0 IAC for MS2 applications. Or if you want a PWM type IAC valve, you might want to look for a two wire one off a VW.
