Relay Board w/7 pin HEI Module
1. Jumper the "V" hole in the relay board to provide +12V to drive the relay
2. Hook up the terminal "B" (from the HEI) to the Fidle (6) on the relay board
Can anyone verify this?
For the record, I'm running a V3.0 MS-II w/2.888 code on a TPI'd Chevy V8.
Thanks

I can make the port work, as I understand it there should be no voltage during crank and vref over 500. Correct?
5 volts to the B-pin kills the motor???
Thanks, Mark

Should the trigger be my initial advance at 16 degrees? - Mark

Re: Relay Board w/7 pin HEI Module
I have checked my port settings and verified that I have no voltage to the b-pin during cranking and 5 volts when running.
Actually the B-pin isn't connected, I am jumpering it during this testing.
I have looked at many other peoples msq's and read through the manual and can't get a grip on why it dies when vref hits the B-pin. The trigger angle(ie:Trigger Offset degrees- right? ) is at 16 degrees which matches the timing light, again without the vref attached. Experimentation with this setting didn't really get me anywhere.
All of the logs get wacked when I jump the vref onto the running motor. Looks like it is momentarily shutting down the controller because the engine goes to 0 and then back through crank, WUE,ASE and IAC. Unfortunately there are so many things bouncing around I can't tell where the cause is coming from.
Also checked is continuity on the B-pin wire from connector to Fidle to verify no short.
Thanks, Mark
Would you mind taking a look at my msq and msl? I suspect I am missing a simple setting somewhere.

Recall that I had to jumper D2 to get rpm signal.
Re: Relay Board w/7 pin HEI Module
-Hall circuit per step 50
-r12 and r13 and c11 installed
-c12 and c30 empty
-d1 newly jumped (no difference noted)
-d2 jumped
XG1-XG2 jumper
-OPTOIN to TACHSELECT
-TSEL to OPTOOUT
-JS10 to IGN
verified that there is 0 voltage during crank and 5 volts when rpm>400.
Starts and runs fine until touching the wire to B-pin to vref and everything goes wacky.

I'm starting to think the module may be shorting out?

Re: Relay Board w/7 pin HEI Module
Ive been looking at others msq's and rechecked the wiring numerous times. Verified again that the Fidle port is set correctly and putting out the vref after crank. Could something be grounding or picking up noise from the vref or other source? Should I post this in ignition tuning? Kinda took over Benders post.
Thanks, Mark

No problem on the post, it's all yours. I just smoked my relay board and have finally had enough. I'm going back to a carb for now, this project has taken way to much time and I need the vehilcle.
Wanna buy a ms-II V3 REALLY cheap!
