Flex fuel sensor

Post by Rizzle »

Hi - I have an odd question about the flex fuel sensors you guys are using - How well does the sensor work with methanol?

I'm looking into making a methanol powered ecotec and since there seems to be many issues with the temp it runs at causing oil to go bad, along with its rep against aluminum parts, it seems to be a good idea to clean the system out with gas before storage.

Our races will be about a month apart, so frequent flushing will be neccessary, so i was thinking of using Q16 as a flush down/endurance race fuel.

So this brings up two issues - how well does the sensor like methanol, and how does it respond to oxygenated fuels?

I'm afraid the only answer is, "It doesn't."
