Intermittent signal EDIS 4

Post by BOHO »

If I turn the key to the "on" position(which gives power to the ignitor) and turn the car over I will get 2 flashes on the computer. Tach on laptop will show 83..124rpm...something around there...and that is it...If I don't turn the key back to the "off" postion there will be no more lights..no more signal...no matter how many times I turn it over no more tach signal at all. Only 2....If I turn it off and back on...2 lights everytime. Not sure what could be causing this. I know the sensor is in good positon. Good 12v at ignitor and good ground. Anyone have any ideas?

Still no spark at the coil pack....Not sure what to look for now. MS is showing good cranking signal on the laptop. Coil pack is good.

Sounds like a faulty or miswired module. The only things that can cause a no spark condition with EDIS are the module, the sensor, the coil, and the wiring that connects them. The Megasquirt can't command a spark cut no matter what it does.

So even if there was an incorrect setting on the MS the car should still run off the module itself....Just in limp mode...but would still fire? I just want to be sure. Thanks for the help Matt.

That's correct - although some settings can give you seriously wrong timing. The only one to watch out for is that I've heard rumors that enabling multispark on a module not set up for it can damage the module.
