cant get ms to react to knock sensor

Post by nickolai »

I was previously running ms2 v2.885 and now im running v2.890 and i cannot get ms to react to the knock sensor in any way. i set up the system using the instructions layed out at http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/knock.htm i have confirmed that the cpu is indeed getting the signal, about 4.39vdc and if i tap the sensor with a screwdriver the signal does drop. I wired to js4/pin30 on the cpu where i measured voltage at the cpu socket.

my real question is: In megatune do i have to activate knock control someplace other than ignition set-up/knock threshold /settings

I have played with settings under spare port settings but have had no luck at all

any help at all would be appreciated.
thanks

Sounds like you don't have the new settings.ini file in the right place; this is what is causing the error message in the above post. The settings look OK; was MegaTune registering an RPM value inside the 700-3500 RPM window when you did the testing?

i was conscious of the rpm,
should i have to change anything under spare ports??

and i didnt mention this but i should have, i was having the same problem in v2.885, that is why i updated the code.

Spare ports should not affect this. Do you have a data log of the testing?

so here is the datalog, during the first 3/4 im tapping the knock sensor with a pair of pliers and at the end i actually disconnected the signal to ms and reconnected it 3 times so i know the signal is going low

thanks,
Nick

You may need to ground the signal instead of disconnecting the sensor; unplugging the sensor does not ensure the ADC circuit will drop because these act a bit funny if free floating.
