GM Sensors advantages?

Post by jmfnx »

I plan on switching my IAC to GM with an adaptor but is there a specific reason why a lot of the members switch to GM water and air temp sensors? I am considering doing it but is the code more readily accessible or originally intended for one format over the other? I am making the IAC change to avoid eliminating a few circuit changes and ease of installation. I have no opinion on which is better and not stating any opinion just wondering any benefits to standardizing all my sensors.

Mostly because they're widely available and cheap, and the original MS1 was not easily recalibrated for anything else. EasyTherm makes that a bit easier, and the MS2 makes it really straightforward. The standard bias resistors give pretty good resolution and a couple sensor types that are way far away from GM resistance values can benefit from a bias resistor swap (Mazda RX-7s come to mind).
