Controller for SBC TPI Intake

Post by zildjian4life218 »

Hi, I'm new to the fuel injection world and everyone tells me that megasquirt is the way to go. I got a tpi intake from a friend off of an 86 camaro. It is a complete intake section with 24lb injectors. What do i need from megasquirt besides the ecu and harness I am gonna use an HEI dist?

The HEI distributor is the easiest way to get spark control with MegaSquirt, though you could use other distributors if you want. Let me know what you have on hand for ignition.

The MegaSquirt will need a signal from the distributor (or crank trigger), a TPS (probably on your intake already), coolant temperature sensor, and air temperature sensor. A wideband oxygen sensor won't hurt either, and of course you'll need a fuel pump that's capable of EFI pressures.

This motor is gonna be a low rpm economy build so just a stock hei will work for me. What will i need for a harness? And i am gonna run a holley inline pump that is capable of i believe 45psi. The regulator is built onto the fuel rails on the intake.

We have an article on this that may help:

There's quite a few options for the harness.

1. Build your own from scratch by soldering wires to a DB37 connector.
2. Start with a "flying lead" harness that has a MS connector on one end and the other ends unconnected.
3. Use a relay board and relay cable, and make a harness that connects to the relay board terminals.
4. Use a factory TPI harness and one of Marc's adapter boards.

If you are going to use the holley fuel pump buy one here. It is cheaper and you will just get them to throw it in the box saving shipping as well.
