Battery voltage and starting issue question

Post by fe3xclone »

I thought I read in the manual that there is a minimum voltage you need to fire the injectors but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know what that is?

I tried starting my 455 the other day and couldn't get it going. I used the same tune I had back on 5-16-10 and it started pretty decent then. However I hadn't touched the car since until the other day. Tried turning it over and it would speed up like it wanted to catch and take off but never did. It got to a point that it stopped even trying to fire and would just turn over with the starter. I tried altering the cranking pulse widths as well as my IAC steps but didn't get anything to work.

I noticed that on my laptop the battery voltage gauge showed I had 11.5v or so. But when I started cranking it dropped to around 10v. I checked the battery directly with my multimeter and it showed I had 14.5v at the battery. My voltmeter gauge in the car was showing less than 10v so I'm a bit confused as to why all of these different gauges are showing something different.

At any rate, would the low voltage be a reason for the engine not to fire even though the starter is turning the engine over just fine?

Thanks,
