If your question is about troubleshooting, configuration, or tuning, you MUST include your processor type (MS-I or MS-II) and code version in your post. If your question is about PCB assembly or modifications, you must also include the main board version number (1.01, 2.2 or 3.0). For tuning/troubleshooting questions, please attached a datalog and your MSQ file to your post.
If you have questions about MS1/Extra or MS2/Extra code configuration or tuning, please post them at www.msextra.com Such questions posted here will be moved to: a temporary MSextra sub-forum, where they will be removed after 7 days

Re: New to MS Tuning
Orientation. It does make a difference on wich wires connect to the coil pack. Ford manual has it one way the megamanual has it the other way. This changes on which wires are terminated. Also it shows another connector which the manual points out not to use.
I am not a wire person, so this is a bit confusing. If I get the correct orientation of the module and could proceed. But not sure, want do it right and with confidence.
Re: New to MS Tuning
I found that with the EDIS 8 diagram. But provided you follow the Megamanual instructions fully, it doesn't matter. Basically, MS has swapped inputs and outputs on the coil packs. You'd need to likely swap the plug connections if using a Ford loom, but if making or modifying one the choice is yours.wm g wrote:Good to hear from you.

The unused wire on the EDIS is do do with diagnostics, I think. It's not needed with MS.

Re: New to MS Tuning
All that is history, I am keeping the DIS the engine is runing and only needs tuning.
Problem was a wire that I changed right before I started the star-up. excited and not careful. I splice the hot wire (long story) after the splice a wire strand was just touching the fuel line and going to ground, not enough to blow a fuse. After the problem was fix and wire was solder as the other wires were, the engine started.
Tuning of the dwell was also off I had two different numbers, Matt Cramer was Huge Help.
Re: New to MS Tuning
Most would be making their own loom - or buying one - so not using the Ford colours doesn't much matter. MS have swapped the coil feeds but do say in the text coil A is to the right. So if following that you'll be ok.wm g wrote:The EDIS wiring diagram does not match the Ford prints, not only in color code but orientation of the module. this makes a difference on which wires connect to the coil pack.
I did say early on that home made or modified looms were often the source of problems. ;-)All that is history, I am keeping the DIS the engine is runing and only needs tuning.![]()

Re: New to MS Tuning
I have checked the wiring against the wiring schematic in the manaul for DIS and it is correct. Any ideas???
Re: New to MS Tuning
I know when to retreat and the time is now. EDIS will be use. At present I am modifying the ring to fit the GM pulley. All of my carb set up is in standby just in case. I know now that the GM DIS does not work with MS in my case anyway. I have had few people with experience check the wiring over and over, same with tuning.
All 3 came to the same conclusion. There is something internally in the MS from keeping it from working properly. That is ok !!!
I think EDIS is the way to go for now, will see.
