The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.
Forum rules Read the manual to see if your question is answered there before posting. Many users will not reply if the answer is already available in the manual.
If your question is about troubleshooting, configuration, or tuning, you MUST include your processor type (MS-I or MS-II) and code version in your post. If your question is about PCB assembly or modifications, you must also include the main board version number (1.01, 2.2 or 3.0).
When i plug in the megastim v2.21 into my megasquirt2 v3.0 the fuel pump light is the only light on. Ive been told this is normal. after loading the firmware it flashes i have been told this is norml. Now i have no control over the coolant temp, intake temp, or throttle position, and i can only turn the air/fuel ratio just a hair to work but anymore it doesnt work. The only thing i can control is rpm's when it is on pnp. Now when i turn the knob for the tach signal the ig light turns on and the I1 and I2 lights start alternating on and off which i would consider normal but the fuel pump light shuts off. I dont think this would be normal bc for the injectors to turn on wouldnt the fuel pump need to be on also? There are three things that i have been thinking about doing that could be the issue. First i ws going to replace the crystal on the megasquirt pcb that is on y1. If that doesnt work i am going to try a new usb-to-serial cable because the one i have is the gigiware brand or something but ill try the one recommened by DIYAutoTune.com. If that doesnt work the only other thing i cn think of trying is to just replace the megasquirt daughtercard itself. Any information anyone can give me at all would be greatly appreciated.
The fuel pump light shutting off after a few seconds is normal. The fuel pump will shut off if it does not receive a RPM signal.
With out a sensor connected to any of the wires you will not have any control over the gauges by turning the pot nobs.
Thank you for the response. When i have the megastim hooked up and i give it an rpm signal by turning the pot the fuel pump light shuts off and the IG light comes on and I1 and I2 alternate turning on. The IG, I1, and I2 being on when i give the comp an rpm signal i would think is normal. but the pump light shutting off right when i give it the rpm signal i dont think is right is it? The pump light is always on after i plug in the stim until i give it the rpm signal by turning the pot then it shuts off. If i turn the rpm signal or pot off all the lights shut off and the pump light comes on again.
Check the signal from the processor to the fuel pump drive circuit - it comes in through the bottom side of R16. It should be 5 volts when the fuel pump should be on - e.g. when you have RPM. If the signal there is correct, sounds like a bad Q2, if the signal there is wrong, check for corrupted firmware.
