Will a MegaSquirt Hold up to Off Road Racing (Baja/Desert)

Post by azoffroad »

Has anyone tried to use a Megasquirt in a off road racing vehicle? Not like Road Rally, I'm talking Baja 1000 desert racing. I'm building a buggy and would like to use the Megasquirt but I'm not sure if it will hold up to the beating off road racing offers.

I'm also interested in speaking to a dealer who will build me a assembled unit along with a wiring harness for a 2.0L Ford Zetec engine. I've contacted a few dealer on this website and have had no responses. I tried a couple more today, maybe they will respond. You can email me at azoffroadracing@gmail.com

Thanks

Can't see any reason why not provided you are sensible with the mounting - not too close to a source of heat like the exhaust, etc.

Since you are building the vehicle, it's likely you'll need a custom loom tailored to your exact requirements. It's something any half decent auto electrician should be able to make for you using the diagrams supplied by MS. Good materials and workmanship are essential here if you're looking for reliability.

Building a harness isnt bad at all take your time and \make lots of notes. When i built mine i made a list of pin, wire color, pin on the sensor, and voltage on the wire. Diagnosing a problem hasnt been easier cause i know what goes where and i dont have to trace the entire harness. Use a factory harness and modding it works well. Ive done 1 of each.

We have been running MS on two different rock crawlers for a few years that see quite a bit of baja type abuse and then some. From WOT to brutal impacts, then they get pressure washed, and so does the MS box. No problems, no worries, run it.
