Holley 4 barrel throttle body

Post by feeble »

I pick up a new Holley 1000cfm 4 barrel throttle body on eBay for a pretty decent price.

http://www.holley.com/9900-171.asp

It has a tps and iac valve but no information about pinouts. I contacted Holley and they said they don't supply that information because they want you to buy their harness which probably pretty much locks you into their complete system. Obviously, I'd rather build my own harness, etc. Very poor support on Holley's part IMO.

Has anyone used this throttle body or know of a good way I can determine what the pinouts are?

Thanks!

Edit: I think I found it buried in a Holley PDF (http://www.holley.com/data/Products/Tec ... 0149-7.pdf) on their Commander 950 system on page 111.

feeble,

I think I have info you need but will take me a couple of days. (commitments until Sunday)

Is this the bolt-on or screw-in (threaded) IAC?

I will watch this post and if you don''t find it in the mean time I will post it up.

Not sure what the etiquette is here for resurrecting an older post, but I figured since this Board is a database for all, I would add a couple of things. I also acquired a 1000 CFM 9900-171 off of Ebay for real cheap. The catch to "real cheap" is I have no TPS, IAC, or for that matter...throttle linkages. A quick call to Holley revealed that they no longer carry the linkages to this model TB (the -171 is discontinued). No problem, I've fabricated a nice progressive linkage with aluminum bar stock...and patience. I figured out that the part number the OP references-- 53032067AA- is a Chrylser/Jeep IAC, even though it appears to be a GM. The GM won't go all the way in because of the step design on the pintle housing.

My quandary is with the TPS. It looks to be a standard GM pre-99 V-8 TPS, but the one I have turns opposite of the throttle (it mounts to the pass side of the TB and needs to rotate CCW as viewed looking right at it). The BWD one I'm holding in my hand now rotates the other way. (???) Maybe I have the wrong part. Did Holley make one that is opposite of OE designs, or is mine a defect? Stay tuned.

Here's a screenshot from Summit (gotta love their 360 views). You can see the type of TPS they use.

It appears the mystery is solved. Now for the info Holley won't divulge... :?

For the IAC, just ask the parts guy for one that fits a 2002 Dodge 1500 5.9L. BWD part # is 21821, Duralast # AC329. Pigtail connector appears to be identical to the GM IAC.

For the correct TPS, use one for a 1993 GMC Sierra 5.7L. BWD part # EC3310P, AC Delco # 213-895. It spins the correct way and has the round 3-pin connector.

The Holley TPS is about $15-20 more than the BWD, but the Holley IAC is about $15 LESS than the BWD IAC. So I guess it's a wash unless you get one of those 20% off deals at Advance. For those of you using the Holley Commander Throttle body, I hope this info is helpful. If you are junk-yarding for these parts, you may need to do some more research on other cars/trucks that interchange with the ones I mentioned...I'm sure there's a bunch.

The tps is the same on the 91-93 s series with a 4.3. Also the same tbi unit was used until 95 on most gm trucks.
