The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.
Forum rules Read the manual to see if your question is answered there before posting. Many users will not reply if the answer is already available in the manual.
If your question is about troubleshooting, configuration, or tuning, you MUST include your processor type (MS-I or MS-II) and code version in your post. If your question is about PCB assembly or modifications, you must also include the main board version number (1.01, 2.2 or 3.0). hey guys, have a 79 280zx n/a running msv2 3.57. not getting any rpm signal to the ms with a mallory unilite dizzy. have replaced the optical unit with a new e-spark. have a resistor in the signal line to 12v+. signal line is pin 24 using pin 36 to trigger a coil. confirmed 12v+ while craniking, have connected everything to the battery for diagnostic purposes temporarily. i am using tunerstudio as my software. ms was on a different 280zx with the same dizzy and it was running previously. any help is appreciated. have tried many different settings for ingnition but just can seem to get anything.
you know id love to, but havent figured out how to yet. i can do regular photos, but not files. if you have some instruction i can. actually matt i emailed you mine yesterday so you can post it if you would like.
hey does not having the purple fuel pump wire affect anything guys. i never used it as my pump is wired to the key. i had a dream last night. lol i was going to get around to it eventually, but i figured if it works then why worry about it. anybody else have any ideas????

When you say 'wired to the key' is this something you did? Most injection pumps are wired so they don't run continuously with 'the key'.

my car has always been like that. there appears to be no mutialtion of the factory harness for the pump either. once i have this signal thing figured out, im gonna re-wire the pump to be triggered by ms, it really is safer, i do agree. right now the priority is to hear it run and this is stumping several people all over the country. does anyone have any ideas, not getting the traffic i was hoping for here. i wish i had an osiliscope.
to add some extra info, the stim board does work 100% it varies the rpm in tunerstudio, so its gotta be this dizzy or the wire itself, or the settings. would i be able to see the rpm signal even with the incorrect settings???? the trigger logger seems to come up empty handed.
Just to recap. You have a Unilite dizzy - but with a non standard trigger in it. I'm afraid I dunno what an e-spark is. Is it designed to drive a coil as the Unilite is? Or does it give a low voltage output designed to trigger an external amp?
However, at very low RPM, like cranking, you should see the signal switch from high to low with a DVM - one with an additional bargraph display would be best. Or even an LED and suitable series resistor.
If it is designed to drive a coil as the Unilite is, try rigging it up with one and see if you get a normal spark.
MS can be configured to get its tach signal from a coil LT, direct from a sensor, or anywhere between. But I'd first make sure there is an output from your sensor/amp.

yes e-spark is identical to the normal unilite module. in fact it is an upgrade as the standard module "broke down" too often. im going to get out there this weekend gain and start at the dizzy, i dont think its the wiring, thats just point a to point be. its just hard when your brain is fried and your stuck. ill report back once i get info
