injector short v2.2 squirt and spark

Post by wkelly93 »

today my car cut out... my injector clip on cylinder 3 was a problem in the past and i used female push style connectors that fit the inside pins and shrink wrapped them so they wouldnt touch since the pins were so close. today, one of the injector wires disconnected and touched my short runner intake and the car cut out. the pin definitely touched the short runner cause there is a tiny burn mark where the wire was hanging. car is idling good and revving pretty good in neutral but when under load it is misfiring... im going to pull the fuel rail right now and see if all my injectors are working. my question is what are the chances that this short has cause any problems within the box. to me it misfires like it is a spark issue random misfires throughout the rpm range but im unsure where to start my diagnostic.

thanks

The MS grounds the injectors, so a short to ground on one of the wires shouldn't worry it.

As Trakies noted, it wouldn't have damaged the MS. If the 12 volt wire became grounded, it would probably have blown your injector power fuse though.

the wire that grounded was the red wire... the orange/yellowish wire was still connected to the injector when this happened
