205 gti running really rich

Post by richard1978 »

hello all,
so the short version is....
a mate of mine bought a peugeot 205 1.9 gti, it was in really good condition but he wanted better electronics and went for Megasquirt
a mate of his, (not me) fitted an MSII 2.890 and all the 'stuff' to go with it. the thing is, it runs really rich all the way through the rev range.
it has EDIS with bosch parts and a narrowband sensor too. now I don't know enough about MS systems or fuel setups etc, but if no msq's, can
anyone tell me what basic setup values like 1 squrit per cycle etc should be set. does anyone have a megatune or ms studio MSQ file for a good running car?
it runs, but there is no way it will pass an MOT because of its emissions.
thanks in advance,
richard

It would be easier to start with the MSQ that's in there and pull some fuel. Please see the tuning manual.

I would love to be able to do this from scratch, the slightly longer version of first post is my mum has terminal cancer and I simply don't have the time as I look after her. I have about no hours a day which I can plan to do stuff so if anyone has a basic setup and fuel map that would be the easiest route by far. I will read it at some point, but not before Easter. I am spending all my time with her as anybody would...

Getting the engine to fire up and run, even badly, is usually the hard part. Tuning it once it's running is a lot easier, especially for fuel - just grab a wideband and adjust the VE table until you're seeing the right air/fuel ratio. You're most of the way there - another MSQ from an engine that isn't quite the same as yours could potentially need even more tweaking to make it work.
