Edis 8 wired to coil on plugs

Post by hessdawg »

So I had a thread I while back but I can seem to find it
Olds 455 Edis 8 ms2
I originally tried to start the engine with the linchon coil on plugs wired in parallel, but I thing I destroyed the edis module
Then I bought another Edis set up off eBay and wired it all up with the factory coil packs
I have had it starting and running pretty smooth. So I thought Id try and wire the coil on plug in series sins I see the is a popular mod for the linchon mk7 guys
http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=55050

But with it wired all correctly in series it will crank and sometimes fire but run rough and die. Or it will crank and show no tach signal in TS then totally disconnect from TS like I've lost power to turned the key off. If I turn the key off and on again it will reconnect
Any ideas

I'll post a vid soon

The weird thing is the only thing that has changed from and easy starting
Smooth running engine is rewireing the factory coil packs to coil on

Hi Hessdawg - this is a73camaro. I apologize for smoking your EDIS module. The resistance of two coils in parallel didn't seem too different than the resistance of a single EDIS coil. I did some researching and found only one person who did multiple coils with an EDIS and they were wired in series.

It seems that posts that are a month old vanish away into some void. Bummer that this knowledge will become lost.

Hey 73
Yeah I think Parallel fried the edis but its cool, it's all part of hot rodding
The new edis was running great on the factory coil packs
Ive got the the COPs wired in series now. Each coil secondary resistance
Is 6,000 ohms so between to sister coils I get 12k resistance

The resistance of one of the plug wires i tested was 15k.

Any ideas??
