msd 6al crank trigger

Post by azdude »

ok tried to get the engine running but only idles no free rev. tach input is flux 600 to 400 and back wont idle worth a poop. So i want to set up the msd to do ignition only and have the ms 2 3.57 do fuel only timing is locked at 30* btdc so where do i tap into to get a tach signal? tach out of MSD ? is it Safe?

The MSD tach output should be fine.

Matt thank you for being patience .Yes good signal fuel pressure is 20lbs on tbi .i think the problem is pulse width is to far apart. and all injectors fire at once. the question now is how to narrow pulse width and stager the firing of injectors. Gonna look at my settings and see if i can figure out the problem. please respond anyway as i am trying to do this on my own..with your HELP.....CRANKING show 600 rpms

It's more likely you are just injecting the wrong amount of fuel and need to adjust cranking pulse width.

Okay, This is what i did . went throuh the wiring and foregot to unhook the ignition out of the relay board so the msd and the MS where fight each other. So i unhooked it and it fired right up free revs ....so the question now is why wont it run with MS running ignition? am i missins a coildriver that you sell.? Matt Thank you for your help I Am SOOOOOO HAPPY to get it running.

Normally a V3.57 would be set up for 5 volt logic level ignition output, which wouldn't work with an MSD.

Is there a way to set it up ? Would a BIP 373 coil driver do it. or a jumper of some sort? thanks

You would need to install a BIP373 (or a switching transistor like a TIP120 would work for that matter if you're using an MSD box) in the Q16 slot, and move the jumper that goes from JS10 to the middle hole of Q16 so it instead goes from JS10 to IGBTIN.
