Advanced Iginition Options setup question

Post by 8803 »

I am setting my Advanced Ignition Options(TunerStudio MS Lite v2.0.8) I am using a VR with a (36) tooth trigger
wheel with (1) missing tooth.
The engine I am using is (2) cylinder(4cycle) with with pistons that travel together with waste spark ignition.
For every revolution one cylinder fires and one gets a wast spark.
Should I view this as a single cylinder and set the "Skip Teeth" to 36.

I am adding further information with hopes someone out there can give me some direction. The car is a 1970 Honda N600. The motor is still running with its stock carb and ignition. I have mounted the trigger wheel and it is functional. All the sensors are in place and functioning. My intention is to test everything before I build the injection system. I am using a single coil for a GM coil pack. It is presently operating from a set of points. My next test is to operate this coil directly with the MSII. Both advance and dwell gauges are working as well. There is no distributor since it is a waste spark design. What I am having a problem with is how to tell TunerStudio that this engine needs to fire once per revolution and when to fire.

If this is a MicroSquirt, see this link:

It is possible, but difficult, to make the dual spark mods work on a regular MS2. It would be easier to use MS2/Extra for direct wasted spark control; this has a separate forum and documentation on MSExtra.com.

This is a MSII and I am not looking for a dual spark. Instead of selecting (2 or4) teeth I only need (1) tooth. The dual output GM coil fires both plugs. One of the cylinders is ready to fire the other is at exhaust. The only problem I am having is how to fill out the info in TS MS LIte v2.0.8 with firmware v2.90.

Sorry, missed that this was a twin; I somehow thought it was a four cylinder. As the chart in the Missing Tooth Wheels page shows, you would set 36 skip teeth for a 4 stroke twin.
