CNG Fuel Injector Calculations & Options

Post by 2013T »

Hello,

I am trying to use my megasquirt MS-1 V3 system to convert my car engine to run on CNG. I have been looking for options of different CNG injectors I could use but have run into some barriers. First, what would be the best way to calculate the fuel flow rate I would need for my engine? Then, where could I find different injectors for CNG that could fullfill these fuel flow rate specifications from my calculations. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sam

Well I don't have experience with CNG but I do with injector calculations, so take a look here if you belong to the Apple crowd:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/efi-mat ... ?mt=8&uo=4

or here if coming from the Android gang:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... athandroid

I don't know if this works for CNG but take a look.

Hello,

This app is great but I not specifically tailored to natural gas so I can get an injector size but not for natural gas. Thanks for the thought though I will try to compare this apps calculations to mine so far

Don't know if you still need this...

Calculate your required flow for gasoline (using mass) and multiply times 14.7/17.2.

You can run a leaner AFR, but you need to utilize a high compression ratio to make any good power.
