Is it possible that the 3.57 board was ordered without the coil driver? Do I need to install one?
I tried again to set timing and that thing is all over the place! I could get no repeatability or pattern by moving the trigger offset angle around. 60adv would get me 60 sometimes and sometimes I would time 4adv. 60 offset would get me 40 timed, 50 would get me 40, moving to 30 would keep 40, moving offset to 0 would keep 40 or it might go to 60. I think we are on the brink of discovery here so thanks for your continued support.

According to the PDFs you posted, it seems to suggest you do need the coil driver. Although it's not clear. There are no instructions about what needs to be set-up within the MS as regards tach input and ignition output that I can find. If there were, it would be easier to determine in the coil driver is needed. (It's often omitted if using say EDIS which has its own coil drivers)

According to this:- http://www.DIYAutoTune.com/tech_article ... _turbo.htm

it does use the coil driver - so I'm not clear how yours runs without it. I'd guess it's still wired to use the factory one.

Ok, strange that the board doesn't have the driver because I thought all later boards came with it. I'll ask DIY to install one and do a diagnostic of the entire board. As far as how how it runs now without one, I can only say that I've completed wiring as if the driver is installed. The factory ecu is removed so only MS2 is controlling spark.

I'm not familiar with your system - but ones like EDIS continue to function with no connection to the engine ECU. With fixed timing - so called limp home mode. If yours is like that, you wouldn't need the coil driver. If it does need the coil driver I can't see how the engine can run without it. :)
