Can the Bosch BIM 034 ignition module be used with MS

Post by ReaperCustoms »

Hey guys, just wondering if the Bosch 3-pin ignition module can be used with megasquirt instead of the Bosch 0 227 100 124? Only reason I ask is it seems hard for me to get the 227 module here in perth australia and even harder to get the connector for it, but the 034 is readily available with the plug genuine and at a good price.

Thanks guys.

A quick Google doesn't show a great deal of info. What are you trying to do? How does the Bosch module do it?

DIY offers their 4-channel QuadraSpark; if you don't need that much driver, I offer my own dual channel coil driver.

This may help?
http://www.pim-engineering.com/tiedosto ... odules.pdf

Ive got a 2.2 mainboard so need a external igniter module (Im led to believe this is correct) Was told to use the Bosch 0 227 100 124 described here: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/Bosch_124.htm

I did manage to track one down and got a plug from ebay but it was a pain and was just wondering If I could use a 034 next time.. Its just a dizzy with a single coil setup.

If I had MS3 on a 3.57 mainboard I would be able to direct fire the coils from the ecu right? (sorry im still trying to get my head around the ignition side of things)

For a single coil distributor, just use a single BIP373 internally. See this link to the Extra manual for an idea on how to do this. I couldn't find similar instructions in the MegaManual for use with the V2.2 board, but the only real difference I see is to connect the 330 Ohm base resistor to JS10, instead of R25.

You can get the parts you need from DIY Autotune; they sell a kit with everything you need except the heat sink grease. Be sure to deburr the hole in the case carefully, as small burrs poking through the hole in the insulator and causing a short is a common problem.
