VE, AFR, other table menus greyed out

For discussing Phil Tobin's TunerStudio MS is the MegaSquirt edition of TunerStudio, a next generation tuning application. It provides the ability to configure and tune all MegaSquirt controllers and is 100% compatible with MegaTune ini files and msq's.

VE, AFR, other table menus greyed out

Post by 41Willys »

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I was a seasoned Megatune user several years ago and have just been driving the car since. Now I have a new street rod, new Megasquirt II with v2.92 firmware. I'm trying to get used to Tunerstudio. It's fighting me. I can't load in VE tables, AFR tables or other tables. The table menus are greyed out. This is in a Windows XP machine.
I'm a registered user for Tunerstudio and I'm using v2.08.
This new engine is the same except for low impedance injectors and needed the active flyback, hence the latest firmware. I would have used my old files and been done with it but I can't.
Thanks for the help.

Dan,

Odds are that the ECU type is not set. See the red text in the blue box here: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/code.htm, and this: http://www.megamanual.com/mt29.htm#s

Thanks for the reply, Lance.
The ECU is set ok. What I did find was buried in the msextra forum about a conflict with baro/map settings must agree in two separate places in Tunerstudio in order for the tables to open up. The VE and AFR tables are now opened up. However, I still have a problem with Priming pulse, cranking pulse, ase percentage and ase taper under "other tables". But, I was able to get them set through other menu locations, so I think they're ok.
I still have a separate issue to do with the O2 sensor not being read by the ECU. I know the signal is getting through onto the daughter board ok, so it's a matter of a software setting conflict somewhere. It's a LC-1 and it's all calibrated up. I seem to remember a situation like this on my other car several years ago. That was with megatune, and it was, I think, a conflict in settings there. Just need to find it.
Thanks again!

Got it. Thanks for replying. A conflict between baro/map settings in two places in the menus was causing the VE and AFR table problem. The "other table" problem greeting out was because of two point setting vs. table setting in general settings.
Thanks!

Willys or whomever, can you point to where the settings for the MAP/BARO need to be exact to unlock the tables? I need to go back a couple of days to when this error occurred to get back my faster cold start and I would like to make a note so it doesn't happen again...

Never mind... I found what I was looking for after searching all over the place for the better part of an hour and now my tune is working properly again. I just wish my starter was... :x
