from Hall to VR

Post by fastfrisian »

Hello, I lost contact with the guy who build my set up, now i try to do things myself.
Sorry for the "newbe" questions

First thing; Problem with trigger wheel sensor
My Hall sensor gives ( dies) when it gets to hot.
I want to replace it with a VR sensor.
Can i use the same port?
(ms-II 3.0)

If your engine is working (other than the faulty sensor) it might be easier to replace it with a sensor rated for automotive crank service.

As to whether you can simply swap in a VR sensor, it rather depends on which 'TachIn' pads on the board are selected. Until recently, the standard wisdom was to use the Opto input for a Hall sensor; more recent experience prefers that the Hall sensor be wired to the VR input. Either way, you'll almost certainly need to calibrate the VR pots on the board.
