Transistor elimination.

Post by 107merc »

Maybe this will help someone else. Was looking for a spot on the heat sink to mount the TIP 120 on my V3 board for the IAC and noted on the schematic
that transistor Q3 could be eliminated if Q1 and Q5 were avalanche rated. Checked with DIGI-KEY and they said they are fully avalanche rated.
Going to make things a lot easier.

Can anyone verify this? I'm going to the mod soon, and don't have any space on the heat sink. I was thinking about making another heat sink and bolting it to the backside of the board, but this would be infinitely easier and less cluttered.

Thank you.
