TS General Setting - injector flow rate

For discussing Phil Tobin's TunerStudio MS is the MegaSquirt edition of TunerStudio, a next generation tuning application. It provides the ability to configure and tune all MegaSquirt controllers and is 100% compatible with MegaTune ini files and msq's.

TS General Setting - injector flow rate

Post by 142 guy »

I am using version 2.6.19 of Tuner Studio with a MSII controller which is running batch fire fuel control. In the Fuel Set-up / General Settings menu, there are entries for Engine displacement, Injector Flow Rate and Injection Timing Delay. What are the Engine Displacement and Injector Flow Rate setting in the General Settings used for? I was under the impression that the injector flow rate and engine displacement entered into the Req Fuel calculator in the Fuel Set-up / Injection Control menu was what determined the Req Fuel used in the injector pulse width calculation.

After having some flow tests done on my injectors, I corrected the flow rates used in the Req Fuel calculator; but, forgot all about the flow rate entry in the General Settings menu. The difference was not huge; but, I was curious as to what the effect might be, if any, or is the flow rate in general setting not used for anything?

The settings in those dialogs are specific to what ever firmware you are using.
What firmware would that be?

I am not sure what those are used for, it seems they appeared with 2.90.

Perhaps someone closer to the firmware will step in.

Flow rate (fRate in the code) and engine displacement (CID) are used with "MAF Only" because we don't use VE or ReqFuel when we are using MAF (and this is not blended), instead the fuel pulse width is calculated from the air flow rate, the injector's flow rate and the displacement.

Injection timing delay is explained here: http://www.megamanual.com/mt29.htm#sg

Thanks for the clarification.

I had corrected the number and it made no perceptible change to the operation of the engine. I am running MAP so that should be expected based upon your reply.
