Which sub-forum, IR throttle bodies research?

Post by Richard/SIA »

Trying to research the various throttle bodies being used for Independent Runner (IR) F.I. conversions.
Did not see an existing data-base.

I know that there are a couple of model MC bodies being used, have heard rumor of a BMW car type as well.
Would like to know which are most available and most often used.

Thinking of going into manufacture of adapters.
JUST the EFI body to manifold adapters.
Probably start with Weber replacement plates for DCOE and IDA-3.
Could probably also do adapters to some commonly used engines too.
Have a CNC Mill sitting idle, want to put it to work.

Please respond with a suggestion for the correct forum to post this in, or maybe the mods can place it there and let me know where it went?

I'm thinking that you may have better success searching the MS Extra forum.......

Hmmm. seems to be little discussion of TB's and less for ITB's on any of the MS forums.
I thought this was about original thinking and max performance.

ITB's I have found so far include two types of Triumph MC, Suzuli MC, and expensive BMW auto ITB's.

Wondering if there are others that are not too expensive as the BMW parts are.

I agree for the most part. Although there seem to be a few, out there using ITBs (mostly Extra code it seems). I actually had considered using them on my own project at one time.

Just noticed your profile! Where, in NV, are you? I am in Eureka........

I am in the crowded part of Nevada, Gardnerville.
Have not been to Eureka for a few years, heard rumors that mining came back and the area is all built up now with new construction.

Found another type of ITB, Toyota.
Not as cheap as bike or as expensive as BMW.
Seems they do not mount the injector in the body but in the manifold below it.
The good thing about them is up 35mm bore and they bolt on.
Injectors can be fitted to the adapter under them.

Ya gotta get out more Richard!!
Maybe so in Elko and Winnemucca, but certainly not the case in Eureka!

I will be interested in following your ITB project when you get it going! I always thought that a set of Hilborn stacks sticking out of my hood would be awesome!

Be safe!

I get the impression they're more about looks than performance with injection - unless you have a very high revving engine.

Right on target, Dave!

We used them on sprint cars, many years ago. They were mechanical in those days and had only 2 states of operation.... full throttle or shut off.....

The only thing that would actually attract me to them would be the nostalgia!
