Post by LT401Vette »

MegaLogViewer supports all MegaSquirt log files (MS-1, MS-2, MSnS-extra). All logged field are displayed and graphable. You can add any additional fields to your log and they will automatically be available for viewing and graphing.

Update 04/24/2006 : 1.6 Released.
Different color for every log trace

Update 04/24/2006 : 1.5 Released.
Added Compare file support. After loading a log file you can load a another "Compare to" file and toggle the overlay. The slider will adjust the offset.

Update 03/10/2006 : 1.4 Released.
Added view menu with ability to show/hide the dash and selector panels
fixed bug in decel indictor

Update 12/18/2005 : 1.3a Released.
Bug fix with Lambda display for non-linear WB02

Update 11/29/2005 : Release 1.3 out.
Primarily refinements I have been making as I use it, figured I should bundle it for everyone.
BTW v1.2 has exceeded 800 downloads from my site alone. I am please that many people find the program very useful and user friendly. Thanks!

Update 10/27/2005 : Release 1.2 out.
New Name: MegaLogViewer with many improvements.

Update 10/12/2005 : Release 1.1 out.
I put out a new release on Oct 12, 2005
Primary changes include:
Save Graph as Jpg - from the file menu. This eliminates the need to do screen shots to post images. The images are cleaner aswell.

Dashboard painting optimizations - paints significantly smoother on slower machines. Less CPU load. Tests well on a Pentium 1 120MHz w/48 meg ram.

Moved all the inc files to a sub folder, it was getting too cluttered.

Update 10/4/2005 : Release 1.0 out.
I just put out a new release v0.9.7

There have been many enhancements since the first release, including:

-Log file playback
-Colors are user selectable
-Painting optimizations to reduce graph flashing
-Engine Bit decoding
-Timescale on graph
-increased to 6 graphs, you can still change this in the MSGraph.properties if you want more or less
-Zoom meter
-Status bar during file load
-A windows exe file to start the app on Windows
-State saved-window position, graphs displayed....

Another new release. I was bold and gave this one the 1.0 version.
I added a lot of stuff:
Overlay graphs,
Appended calculated fields,
Menu selectable Wide Band, and Appended fields
Enhanced formula evaluation
Several example custom calculated fields: RPM/sec, PW-1.... You can add any others you make up by editing the MSGraph.properties file.

Let me know if you run into any unexpected features (aka bugs)

Enjoy....

Great log viewer I run in linux. 1 suggestions. Can you make it so when you are scrolling through the current graph range, if you go past the application window it will go to the next range. That way we do not have to constantly click to go to the next range.

The bug I noticed is when I first start MSGraph the image is complete garbage. If I minimize an maximize it it will be corrected. Sometimes this also happens with the graph info to. If you need more info let me know.

I have seen the garbage paint for the splash image, it only happens once and a while on the windows machines. I 'll give it a shot on my linux machine and see if it is more repeatable.

Let me see what I come up with for the mouse paging.

Thanks, no rush on any of the points. It works very well more of pet peeves.

I really do appreciate the feed back, if you see something not working right, or the way you expect, I want to know :)

What do you mean by graph info?

Graph info = graph I meant when it is not displaying the splash screen. I also noticed with this latest version the Boost conversion does not work anymore. I uncommented the two lines to do boost conversion and it is still showing map but gauge displays boost as the name. Here is the lines from the config file. I removed the brackets for safety. No other MAP formulas are set either.

MAP_NAME=Boost
Boost_FORMULA=logVal-96*0.145113524

Yep, looks like I broke it.

I just put out a patch release that I think get all you found v1.0a

I am sort of depricating the old way to do formulas. The new preffered method is:

APPEND_FIELD_Boost(psi)=[MAP]-97*0.145113524

This will not replace MAP, but instead add it as an additional field. This will also make the formula appear on the menu as selectable to turn it on or off. This way you can have both Vac and boost.

For the heck of it I added it to the patch release I just put out, so you won't have to edit any file. Just turn it on from the "Calculated Fields" menu.

If you preffer to replace MAP with PSI, uncomment it. That should work again in v1.0a

Let me know if the painting problem is fixed on your machine...

The boost is back.

I see you added the mouse scroll option. Works great exactly what I was thinking. The screen painting is still there. If I click the MS image it clears up and looks perfect. Dont see any issue with the graph painting now.

May also want to put a check in place so that the boost option from the menu and the boost option in the properties file are not enabled simultaneously this breaks the boost measurement.

Phil,

Great log viewer app, very well done.

I thought I should point out a typo on your web page:
To Run
Double click MSGraph.jar
or
from command shell from the directory containing MSGraph.jar:
javaw -jar MSGraph.jar
The last line has an extra "w" and should be:
java -jar MSGraph.jar

As a Linux noob, it took me a while to figure that out

I also noticed the playback will stop unexpectedly. Clicking the play button gets it going again, so no big deal.

Thanks.

Sorry about that. It is javaw on windows if you don't want a command shell open.... I should have the non-windows command there too.

OK, it's not a typo, it's a different command for windoze users. I learned something new already today!

Thanks again, very cool app.

I was doing some performance testing on some slower machines to see how the app works and what is taking the most CPU power.
What I found to be about the biggest CPU hog is the color changing from red to green on the dash board. That beat out painting the little gauges.

At any rate I guess if you are running a slower CPU on your tuning laptop I would recommend turning off "Adjust Color To Value" on the options menu.

I will look at optimizing that. There are also a few optimizations to the gauges I can make.
