The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.

A lot of commonly available Toyotas at the wreckers in Australia have ESA type EFI systems, so i wouldnt mind pinching one of these commonly available ignitors.
Toyota RA28 Celica.
18R-GE|2.0L|Twincam8|9.7:1 pistons
MS-II|V2.687t4 code
I thought pretty much all Toyota igniters were smart (controled the dwell).
Im not far off installing ms2 v3 board on my ESA 5mge (6 cyl) but I was going to run the Ne (24 tooth modified to 12-1 by two) to ms2 and control the coil directly thereby leaving out the igniter.
I really dont know if this is the wisest option, should I use the igniter instead ?
Also, will the Ne wheel work the way I think it will, as in grind off two teeth opposite each other to simulate a single 12-1 crank trigger ?
Dunno if this applies to ESA, but there is an interesting how-to in regard to early 22R ignitions systems and using a bosch unit instead of driving the factory ignitor.

The 24 tooth wheel is run by the dizzy by the way, hence my wanting to simulate a single 12-1 wheel by having a 24-2 with opposite teeth removed.
I dont see a problem but once I grind the teeth off i cant put them back on so id like to be sure
