Sure it's possible. Just reset the boot loader and upload the software again. But why not just send a datalog so we can help you troubleshoot this problem? You would likely end up right back in this same situation anyway. If you are having uncontrolled accel events, there are simple cures. We just need a datalog to confirm weather accel is your problem, or maybe something more sinister is going on here.
If your computer has a PCMCIA slot, the driver is, likely, already in the O/S and ready to go. They will, usually, see a memory card as a HDD or Mass Storage Device, and set themselves up for you. I have not had any problems with this setup on my Win98, Win2000, or WinXP systems, and I use it on all of them, and neither the Win98 or the Win2000 system has a CDROM drive.
BTW, several new, (Vista), laptops are offered with a WinXP "downgrade" CD. Microsoft is not admitting that Vista does not work or anything, but it still offers this option. Anyway, you might contact the manufacturer of your laptop and request this cd for your system. The worst they could do is say no.

I have bought a pcmcia and couldn't get it to work with this laptop...I had A laptop on XP but it crashed. If I could post the msq or datalog I would. I'm looking for a used one right now so I can help with this problem. Its not an accel issue, I can only get the car to idle on settings that it shouldn't run on in the first place...and won't do anything productive past that point. I plan on going to the megameet here next weekend..maybe I could get some help with the computer there?

What was the problem?

That is a GREAT place to get help. I'm pretty sure there will be somebody there with a laptop that'll plug right in to your system, and you can datalog quickly.

I was thinking it was a driver problem...since it would not connect. I don't think I'll be able to get the car there though...was thinking of just bringing the computer itself.

Which computer were you going to bring, the MS or the laptop? I have seen some PCMCIA-to-CF-card adapters not respond while some others do. Do you have any other PCMCIA devices you could try?
FWIW, I only paid $70 for my touchscreen computer on E-bay, and it connects to MS, has a USB port, a PCMCIA slot, and a built in CF slot. I also bought the docking station which adds more USB ports, a keyboard, and a DB9 serial port.

I was just going to bring the MS...Yeah I was going to look on ebay for something like that. I got the one I'm using now off ebay thinking that I could use the pcmcia slot but the cd drive was damaged and it has no usb ports....the serial is the only thing on it that works right...lol. I figured if I brought the MS itself maybe someone could plug it up to a laptop and look at my settings...and just try to get some feedback on it...I thought about just getting a new msII while I was there...just don't know what the problem is yet. Hopefully I'll get it figured out.

My "tuning computer" is a Fujitsu LC-1, and I see them on E-bay often at around $100. A friend of mine, and fellow MS'er, saw mine and just "had to have on" too. We love 'em.
Someone at the Megameet can probably hook your MS to a stim and test it pretty quickly. Maybe someday I'll make it to one.

Thanks for the help and advice devastator. I really appreciate any input I can get. I think what honestly happened here was corruption when I went from a ms1 msq running the original code and loaded it into this ms II computer. And havn't been able to get back to square one. I know the injectors are good and I know the wiring is good...but I definite messed something up on the ms. I don't seem to have the best of luck with stuff like this....Hopefully the megameet will prove to be a good trip...its only like an hour 1/2 away...so I'd be dumb not to go. I have had nothing but problems with the car but but can't stomach getting rid of the damn thing...I can't wait to put the multiport setup on it.....so I can get some moar powaa

So, do you have the MS2 onboard right now, and the MS1 is in a box on the dining room table or something?

No problem. :)

Correct.

Is the MS2 a stand alone ECU or are you using your sketchy MS1 with an MS2 daughtercard?

My sketchy ms1 is sitting in a box. The computer on the car now is a ms 2.2 with the msII daughter card and flyback board on it. I got it used from my car forum. I trust the guy I got it from.

Sorry to appear dense here, but your original post was regarding the MS2, and not the MS1 right? Are you planning on taking the MS1 to the Megameet for testing while leaving the MS2 in the car? Are you currently troubleshooting the MS2 on the car, but cannot datalog?
Just making sure we are on the same page here.

Yes we are talking about the ms2...the sketchy ms1 is done...nothing to do with the car anymore. I'm taking the ms2 to the megameet....Its the only computer I've been working with...and is what I'll be running the car with.

BOHO wrote: So anyways....I can be idleing...barely...and my pulsewidths will drop from 3.5 ish to 1.3...1.4...around there....car will lean out and die. None of the sensor readings change and the VE #'s don't change until the car is already on the way down. My tach signal folows it down...so its not losing signal or anything. I don't have anyway of datalogging right now so that won't help....
Back to this then. Are you sure that the WUE, and ASE are completely run out when this happens? Also, does the Accel light on the MT control panel flicker at all at idle? Can you make a datalog and look at it for yourself for these issues and then report back here with the results?

I will try to datalog and let you know what I can see. I know its not the ASE settings I set the cycles to 0 on the car while its warmed up with no change...What is WUE?

On the ms1 that I was running..Which is from Fuel injectrion Pro. They are no longer in business http://www.fuelinjectionpro.com/ ...I'm not sure why...Its 2 low impedance injectors but everyone that runs the system runs settings for high impedance. There are no resistor packs and I don't understand it. The 4 injector setup that they sell...DOES run a resistor pack. There is no change at all between low impedance and high impedance injector settings. I would think there would be something.

WUE stands for Warm Up Enrichment. The manual will describe it better than I would, but basically, it adds fuel, (in the form of PW), until the engine is at running temperature. So the PW will be higher at cold temperatures than at warm temperatures, which could produce the PW change you are seeing.

I don't know how they are doing this either without resistors or another board of some kind. I would strongly suggest setting up your MS2 for the injectors it is really using.
