The V and Vx can run OS4.1. There is an update CD on ebay sometimes, usually very cheap. Palm used to sell it but discontinued. Or someone on this forum might be able to help out if you ask.

if you can not sleep one positive thing is you have some time to do important things.

tried to update to OS4.1 and found out that my german palm desktop won't work with the english software.
easiest solution was to use an old laptop and do it there as i didn't wanted to remove the german version, because of the other Palm i have.
but finally, everything works :)

now i have one german speaking and one englisch speaking Palm Vx. think the english one will become the one to use in my little british car 8)

thanks to all :!:

Will this work with any of the Handspring Visors? I came across a free Handspring Visor Platinum today (it was intended to compete with the Palm V I believe).

I did find a serial cable for it, but I don't know if that means anything:

Does anyone have Palm OS 3.5.3 or 3.5 they can send me? I have a Palm V and an OS upgrade isn't available online.

Thanks

Patriq Backlund wrote:I don't think the follow up question to this post was ever answered. It was if the TTL-conversion was needed for Tungsten T to be able to run MS applications ?
You're right, the question was not answered. Tungsten T works without a TTL converter, just make up a basic 3-wire cable and it works fine, it has true RS232 input and output. For info, it also runs the Megasquirt Palm applications considerably faster than the III or V series (the pages load faster).

Regarding Bluetooth, I don't think it will work, but am not 100% sure.

OK, now I'm confused. I have never owned a m500/m515. So is the m500 TTL or RS232 or ? Are you sure you don't have a TTL-RS232 converter circuit inside the backshell of one of the connectors in your cable? I just opened up both backshells on my Tungsten T serial cable to be 100% sure that there are just 3 wires being used, and no circuits, and I found just 3 wires :)

Patriq Backlund wrote:And, on the topic - I have modified my 2.2 MS board to feed power to a 'RS232 to bluetooth' unit. This was to be able to connect my laptop without a cable. But the Tungsten also has Bluetooth. Would a bluetooth unit Palm be able to communicate with the MS-unit using bluetooth ? (Running the MS software on the Palm)
There is presently no support for bluetooth, but it could be added in the future. Newer versions of the HB++ development environment used for these Palm applications do offer that capability.

Just for info for this thread, I recently got a Tungsten T, it does RS232 no worries, and is a very strong, quality unit. Everything on it works better or finer than the Palm V series and Sony Clie that I am comparing it with. What I also like about this Palm is it has the best screen visibility I have seen in daylight or shade, good battery life, compact, strong!!! (don't ask me how I know) and fast with a 144MHz processor. I see they are still fairly cheap in USA.
Looks positive to me!

Sorry if this was covered before but can I use the tungsten E2? An earlier topic in this post said something about the E2 has something like a cable or chip but I was confused on what they were trying to say. If you can use the E2 how would I do this? Do I make my own cable or do I buy the cable? what parts would I need if I have to make my own cable? How do I put the MS cd onto my palm? do I just copy it or drag it into send to handheld and save it either to the E2's internal memory or a SD card? How much memory would I need?

Thanks

Check this link: viewtopic.php?p=196786#p196786

If you have a card, you can put the MS Palm program onto the SD card, put the card into the Palm and load the program, don't need any windows software. You will need a cable to connect the Palm to the PC to upload datalogs.
