Trying to use ET to set up my MS to use factory sensors. Changed the R4 resistor and copied the ET setting from the Rotory set up page, wrote the files but when I hit the "download to MS" button I get a message in the ET dialog box that says:
ERROR...Megasquirt returned:
!!
!!
expected "boot>"
What the heck does that mean?

It means you have not shorted the boot jumper on the board. To enter 'bootloader' mode, the MS box must be power cycled with the jumper shorted first. Then run EasyTherm, and assuming correct COM port and such, you'll have no problems.

If MT communicates on COM1, then you must use COM1 in EasyTherm as well. Note that you CANNOT just minimize MegaTune, and run EasyTherm. You MUST exit MegaTune completely, or it will continue to hold serial port access, and EasyTherm will not be able to connect.

ok so duh... that was the issue
Next issue:
So at the end of the download the dialog window reminds you to copy a file, I think ".ini" file is what it said, but where do I find this file and is this somehow related to the fact that now when I power up the MS and open MT it doesn't work?

Assuming this is your first install, then your configuration files will reside in the "c:\MegaSquirt\car1\mtCfg" folder. When EasyTherm runs, it creates .inc files in the same folder where the program was run from. Copy those .inc files over to the previously mentioned folder, and MT will use the new data when converting temps back to degrees.
Also, what code version did you select? If you changed over to MSnSExtra at the same time as changing your thermistor tables, then you need to follow the instructions to update MegaTune configuration accordingly. See details here:

Well the saga continues...
In my impatiance I tried to remove and reinstall MT and ET and now I have nothing!!!! Please help before I kick the chair out!
I started MT on my desktop and it seems to work ok with the exception of the IAT which is what I was trying to alter to the Mazda sensor. FYI this is not the PC that I did the ET from so the inc. files do not exsist on this machine.
As far as the version goes I don't know as I have wiped it out, but that's ok because I think that I have changed what I need to. Only problem is the inc. files to make MT work correctly. Do I need to wipe out MT and reinstall, save the inc files to a different folder...

Also how do I know which inc. files I need to use? Which folder does MT us to look up the info?

Copy all of them in the EasyTherm folder (you'll find three) to the folder I mentioned in my previous reply...

Thanks Rodger,
I got MT working. Strang thing was that after downloading the firmware update from ET MT would show in the tool bar but to view I have to double right click and maximize

So I got he motor started, sort of... But I need to go back and read a bit more about tuning so that I can get it to idle. Thanks again for your help.
