Serial Cable for Relay Board to MS connection

I am about to wire up the DB37-DB37 connection between the Relay Board and Megasquirt. I have a long length of surplus computer serial cable which has 25 shielded colour coded wires in a single compact package.

Would this be Ok for the connection provided I added heavier gauge wires for the Ground and Injector connections?

The total cable length will be approx 1.2m and the size of the serial cable cores as far as I can measure with vernier calipers is 0.6mm (0.28 sq.mm) which is I think equivalent to 23 AWG.

Thanks Lance.

I have just noticed the serial cable is stamped 24 AWG, a little light, but I will give it a go with heavier wires for key components as you say. Surprisingly I am having difficulty tracking down a local supply of more suitable slightly heavier cable (20 AWG or so) which is why I looked at the serial cable which I already have. (25 metres cluttering up my garage)
